hi guys, on the build thread on here... on how to mod ur LIM and s/c for an intercooler ....it said that grinding down the "H-bar" helps with the cooling of the s/c i guess.

is this still an accurate/proven/good mod to do?

i dont want to do it and lose boost or something gets messed up. ive searched around, seen alot of videos and havent seen anyone showing how to do, or posting about this mod.

its a 2004 gtp xpz cam, head work, zzp hd trans, full sized intercooler, i just cut the LIM open, and some big O 22s that spin like **** that make all these mods non extistent lol

Get stock wheels with a good tire.

Like power said leave the GenV alone.

Only thing that might help is smoothing up the inlet.

wish someone would step in and explain why it is or why its not ......im thrown off by it because i read in other thread that air being forced through the port is not going to change direction going through the ports so im "guessing" that means the air is going to shoot straight down through the intercooler into the LIM, before it would have a chance to float over into the area pass the h-bar

on the other hand im thinking its more about more of the intercoolers surface area being available to the incoming air...and regardless of the air pushing through at one end of the supercharger...the incoming air will be subject to a lower temp due to more available intercooler in that outlet............

iono someone explain it to me

Pretty sure you do remove the H-Bar when intercooling. I've seen it multiple times.

    Here's a write-up that even shows removing the H-Bar:
    http://www.grandprixforums.net/threa...BS-Intercooler

*As a side note, remove the 22's. Get 18 or possibly a 19 inch rim. Anything over 20's on these cars, look like ass.

    '08 G8 GT - 6.7L 408CI Stroker, 239/254 Cam, Fast Intake, 102mm TB, CAI, Full Exhaust.

You sure? This is a Gen V we're talking about, not a Gen III.

Edit: It's a Gen V in the write up, so I dunno.

Not on my personally I'm not IC yet. If you look at the sc and then the IC all it's doing is opening it up a bit in theory should increase the cooling of the IC.. In reality who knows how much of a difference it really makes.

In reality though removing the bar can hurt absolutey nothing. If you have a means to do it then do it.

    Yeah, tiny.

And much easier on the transmission...along with all that weight you're removing.

Not to mention your speedo would be correct if you didn't reset the PPM in the tune.
