Thought I would share my personal experience with the modified 1.9 rockers from zzp. These will not work on some l32 and l26 heads. The pushrods will hit the heads in some cases due to the bad casting sticking out. I installed them and had major ticking and after pulling them out 9 of the 12 pushrods had a small pea sized mark on them. Also the pushrod seats on the rockers are drilled closer to the head meaning your pushrods will run closer to the head. Needless to say save yourself some $ and time and just do a cam install. I will only cost you a few hundred more and you'll be much more happy.

The larger 3/8th rods and or 1.9s don't work on series III engines But what I need to know if it's the heads or the block that causes the rubbing on the rods. Because what about people who top swap and use l67 heads on a l26? Or l32 heads on a l36It's news to me as well and I'm trying to understand it. I planned on using 3/8th rods on my l26 build using unknown zzp s3 heads (l67 or l32 no idea what they are)

Sounds like a whole lot of guess work, easy way to be sure you wont have issues is use a SC bottom end. I realize that's not as easy as it sounds. Good luck and Im amazed this hasn't been discussed before. Fluke deal sounds like. And I've heard that the later casing series 3 heads and engines got pretty sloppy with castings right from GM too.

This is a great thread. Now I'm more aware what to look for since I have a Series III.

Upon further inspection the re-drilled seats on the rockers are in a different location on the 1.9s. They are closer to the front of the rocker meaning the pushrod is that much closer to the head.

I was running 1.9s on a l26 block with comp cam stock length push rods. Had no issues for 2 years and about 30k miles but just pulled that motor out cause it was kocking and found push rod was bent and spring busted, and valve hit piston...not sure what caused it.

Your car looks older than that did you do a motor swap? What heads are you using? What 1.9s? Im used a l32 head with zzp modified 1.9s.

I realized i made a typo in my original post that was confusing so it's been fixed. I'm being specific with a specific rocker and head ZZP Modified 1.9 rockers with a L32 or L26 head. From the research I've done it doesn't happen all the time, it just depends on how bad the casting is on the head. I'm not sure if that's true but my experience didn't turn out well.
