What's the difference between the 1996-1997 pontiac supercharger vs the 1998-2003 other than the throttle body

95-96 still had the gen 3 M90 if it was a series 2 motor. So bonnevilles and buick rivs had them.

Just the vacuum ports are different really. I prefer the 98+ because it has no vacuum tree and only uses 1 single vacuum line to connect the BS, LIM and MAP.

96s where an off white color and had the vacuum tree with THREE vac ports on it.

97s were the standard gun metal color and had a vacuum tree with TWO vac ports on it.

98+ were gun metal with no vac tree.

I thought the '96's had the "danger to manifold" warning sensors?

    96 Rivi owner here.

95 Rivis and Bonnevilles were Series I L67s with the M62. 96+ Had the M90. The 95s and 96s had the 4T60E (vacuum and electric hybrid) while 97+ got the 4T65E-HD. That's why 96 3 vacuum ports. The fuel rails are also slightly different between 96 and 97+, but you can use a 96 blower on 97+ and vice versa. You just need to dick with the vacuum lines or just transfer everything over from your old blower to the new one. Throttle bodies were the same in 96 and 97+.

Ice and Matt hit it pretty much on the head.

96 Blowers had thermal coating on the entire blower, + 3 vacuum port tree by the TB. TB had an extra vac port for trans modulator 4T60
97 Blowers had thermal coating only on the snout + 3 vacuum port tree by the TB and no port on the TB for the trans 4T65E
98+ Blowers had thermal coating only on the snout, no vacuum tree by the TB and no port for trans 4T65E

You can use any blower or TB from this combo as long as you take a moment and route vacuum properly. You can cap off the vacuum tree on 96/97 blowers and go with the 98+ version of vacuum lines. And the port on the TB for the modulator on the 4T60 is merely plugged on the later years. Pull the plug..toss a nipple in ...and presto you'd have the same port.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
