Thread: Pedal Position Sensor Question

I posted this same issue a few months ago but have some additional information and would like some feedback.

04GTP gives me a Reduced Engine Power and traction control error and goes into limp mode....ONLY if I "punch it". If I accelerate quickly, no problem, but if I really get on it, "Ding Ding:...Reduced Engine Power". In the past, I would get NO codes when this happened. Today, for the first time...I got codes (2138, 0102, 1125. I know what all these codes mean, but trying to diagnose since they can represent many things.

So here's what I've done: Cleaned MAF. Disconnected it. When disconnected, I get a MAF error code, so I suspect it's working. Replaced the throttle body electronics module. Same problem. I have not replaced the pedal assembly but that's next.

Thoughts? What are my chances of solving this problem with a new pedal assembly?

Indeed it did fix the problem. Changed out the pedal assembly and no more "Reduce Engine Power" issues.

Ok, so here's the good and the bad thing. At 87K, I had a catestrophic failure in the bottom of the engine...and I did not abuse this car....it just let go. So I found a motor in GA from a wreck, installed it with my boys for their Boy Scout automotive merit badge and it turned over on the first try...all the computers came online and it's been running flawlessly ever since. Nice thing about this? Well, when I started having problems, I had plenty of parts from the old motor...still in the garage, that I could swap out the MAF, throttle body, etc., to try to troubleshoot the problem. Not saying you should blow your motor to have test parts laying around, but it sure saved me some money this time around trying to figure out the problem.
