I changed my oil and fuel filter yesturday. I use full synthetic. I changed them because I sea foamed it 115 miles ago. My last oil change was less than 2000 miles ago. And after I change them I'm having extremely high oil pressure and a very rough acceleration once i get into boost. My oil pressure gauge goes to 100. During idle its at about 80. When i give it any gas it goes to 100. Today I went and got another Bosch oil filter. And it didn't change anything.

Nope. I double checked. It was perfectly at full. Then i loosened the plug for it to drip a little out. I dropped it down 1 dot from full.

Is that with the car warmed up? Just curious. Some of the Internationals I work on run just shy of 100PSI when they're not warmed up. Once warm they run like 30.

I'm honestly not even sure what the 3800's are supposed to have for pressure. My old 95 3800 Camaro with 190K ran like 60 psi when cold.

Yes a little less than it said to. Why would that matter after an oil change
and yes it was warmed up. Normally when it's warmed up and idling it's at like 45ish. Now it's 80

because you may have dislodged some crud in the oil passages and unintentionally made it land somewhere else.

I'd honestly remove the oil filter housing and check. It's fun.

    Or the entire front cover.

This is why I only put seafoam in either the gas tank or brake booster line, never in the oil.

ouch, seafoam in the oil is a no go. heard to many horror stories. this is just one more.

hope that clears up on its own or something.

Basically what Bio said. You've got something partially blocked somewhere and it's causing it to build a bunch of pressure. Why it's accelerating rough though I'm not sure.

hopefully not a spun bearing. that creates all kinds of stupid problems until it lets go and you figure out what happened in a quick minute.

D! Stupid! Final Answer! lol but in all seriousness, I'm with Bio on this one and like Blue and Scotty said, NEVER put seafoam in engine oil. That crap thins the oil and will do some sort of damage to the bottom end bearings whether it's minimal or major.

Isn't the reasoning behind it being its supposed to clean up sludge or something. I found strict oil changes every 3k go a long way.

dont care what the reasoning is, its known to kill a few bottom ends from use in the crank case.

and it must clean stuff up, but this time it clogged up some oil passages or this guys oil pressure would not be 100 psi.

Yeah. That would suck. I replaced the bearings like 2 years ago.i hate the oil filter housing. I always get pissed taking it off. I think imma drop the frame and drop the oil pan and check the pick up. And also check the oil filter housing. I wasn't going to put it in the crankcase but my buddy told me I should..so I did.
