    Hey all,

I was very fortunate, found an ad on craigslist for a 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix supercharger. Drove through rush hour traffic in Nashville to meet him... sure enough, it was a Gen V M90. Paid him his full asking price of $50. It had the bypass valve, but was missing the vacuum tree.

Another turn of good luck, pulled a throttle body off a 2001 Cadillac Deville at the local pick-n-pull yesterday. $35 for the throttle body with all the electronics (kept the connectors on the TB, just cut off wire as far from the throttle body as I could). Also picked up the MAF ($20) off the same car. I believe it's the same as an LQ4, someone may have to correct me. It seemed to be in great shape. Also grabbed a vacuum tree off an L67.

Hoping continue this project spending as little as possible. Not in a huge hurry to put it all together, thinking of saving it for my next L67 car.

So, I am on the step where I need to pick a throttle body adapter to join the two. I see that various vendors sell them for $100 apiece, wondered if there was a community member somewhere that builds them for somewhat cheaper. I'm keeping an eye on the for sale section for a used one, maybe I'll get lucky. I'd strongly prefer to get one with a functional EVAP.

Also, how hard is it to modify the l67 throttle body bracket to work with the N* style? Can it be done with just some bending and dremel work?

How different is the Gen V LIM? I know it is said that you can machine your Gen 3 intake manifold... how involved is that? Does the inlet just need to be cut open bigger? I have access to a mill. Do the bolt holes need to be relocated/tapped?

I intend to put a ZZP MPS hub on the end before installing it. I have used the ZZP removal tool and it works great, but is it really necessary if I have no intention of re-using the stock pulley? Will a regular gear/pulley puller work without damaging the snout assembly? (Again, don't care about the pulley)

Finally, wiring. It looks like the various adapters for the MAF, IAC, TPS are just female L67 connectors attached to the N*/LQ4 connectors. Is there any passive electronics I need to be aware of here? Looks like I just need to pick up some connectors and just do some re-pinning.

Thanks in advance for the help, guys.

    Scotty,

Thanks for the heads up, I will look into his products. Honestly, I didn't even consider that I needed a turndown. Is it necessary with the LQ4 MAF and a 7" cone filter? I don't have any plans to make a FWI or anything like that.

The N* maf IIRC is not the same as an LQ4, however if you took the maf table from that motor...that would be your starting point for tuning.

On your question of the difference from L32 to L67 LIM. I cut L67's all the time to make them into an L32. The only differences are the size of the inlet from the blower and the newer year L32's didn't have a recess in the LIM at the coolant ports for o-rings. If you put an adapter on the TB, you may as well plug the ports at the LIM and never need to worry about a leak.

Look at the front set of bolt holes on the left side of the Gen V gasket. You'll see the inlet goes to nearly the bolts.

Here is an L32 gasket on an L67 LIM. I trace slightly inside the gasket (to leave a small lip) and cut on the lines

    It's about 3/4" to trim
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

    Bill,

Thank you very much for the photos. I was hoping the conversion was just this simple. It will be no problem to go to the junkyard and get an l67 LIM (the L32 are much harder to come by).

On the MAF... this is the 5-wire style with IAT built in. When I get home, I will post up the part number on the MAF (there is a sticker on the outside that has a part number). I do recall that it is a Delphi unit.

Part number for the MAF is 25168491

Just picked up an L67 LIM at the local yard for $20. Hard to beat that. Just need to get the L32 S/C gasket and start cuttin'

Edit: Wow, advance wants $62 for the Fel-Pro plenum gasket... $42 from Rock Auto. What gives? As I recall, these supercharger gaskets are glorified paper with some rubbery parts.

The S/C gasket by DNJ goes for only $8 on RockAuto... anyone have experience with cheaper gaskets?

Edit 2: The cheaper gaskets are actually the same part number as the old gasket, so probably not helpful. What makes the new ones so expensive?

    L32 uses a metal gasket. l67 has a 11 dollar paper gasket.

pretty sure you can just rtv the blower to the lim.

Okay, looking a little further... the 04/05 gasket I was shopping for was paper as well. Apparently it was around 2006 that the L32 started using the aluminum gasket. The newer aluminum is only $20 on Rock Auto. Go figure.

go paper then. whats the difference really?

other then the metal one is thicker. you can see how think in bills pics if you look closely.

The funny thing is, the metal one is cheaper than the paper one. Makes it an easy decision.

Anyone know where to get Gen V bolt set or bolt specs for L32 LIM?
