Yeah I am not so much into the welding and cutting part especially if it is as crucial as lets say headers :P I can do both..well but I wouldn't trust myself with it because it is pretty important. So far you have been a great help :) just not sure what the difference would be besides piping size and maybe a coating :S
There is also S&S headers, from what ive heard they're an easy install. Ill be purchasing them miself when i get my GEN V :)

Now I have read through all of the Ebay ad and it says those headers will NOT work with stock CAT and I would have to buy a 3" replacement and weld it on :th_shakinghead2:
Forgot to mention e-test is not a problem until I have to sell it haha :th_king-evil: but it still needs a CAT and would a high flow cat work with headers or would it be better to just run a straight pipe?
if you run straight pipes youll hate your car and want to cut your ears off.
Is it really that bad? haha I have straight pipes on both my mustangs and my moms 69 cutlass :p I don't mind it but would the s/c make a difference in sound? And yeah I was thinking it was a bad idea haha, I am just trying to find headers that will go with stock cat or a hi-flow cat replacement with headers.:th_angry2:Quote:

any set of headers you buy youre more than likely going to have to get the supplied downpipe welded to your stock cat. the only one that i know has a bolt in section with a cat you have to either buy TOGs or the new ZZP headers and get a bolt in "TOG style" downpipe.
honestly you dont really need a bolt on application, but it's much easier if you dont have a welder or the means to get it welded.
otherwise if youre thinking about headers, it looks as though you can get some decent quality ones from ebay now. i for one bought my headers a while ago when there was only three or four brands to choose from. i chose S&S because they are a two piece design and were the best quality looking that i could see. i had TOGs and they were a pain to install and seal, so i sold them and got what i have now. i would look into ZZP headers if possible, they are supposed to be the top of the line as of right now.
i say if you get headers, you should be able to run a 3.4 pulley (with a colder thermostat, colder plugs, and an intake) on the blower. it will wake the car up like crazy compared to how it is now.
Yeah I can weld but I wouldn't trust myself with that important/expensive of a piece and shops where I live charge out the ass for an hour of work:th_depressed: so I won't need to replace my cat if I get a bolt on IE TOG's bolt on or if ZZP has a bolt on one. Would replacing the cat with a high flow make much of a difference (I know it sounds like a stupid question it clearly will flow better) but will it make that much more of a difference?
So I have done some searching Bio and are these the headers you are talking about from ZZP? ZZ Performance :confused: If you click the link there is 4 options, on option number 2 I have no clue what to pick if I have to pick anything at all. But I like the option of sending the stock downpipe/cat for a 50$ credit. :th_thumbsup-wink:

yeap those are the ones. they are probably one of the more researched sets of headers for these cars. it looks like everything is bolt on unless you get a shorty, so that is good in your case.
a high flow cat will help, but nothing noticeable. the catback isnt the restrictive part on these cars until 350+whp. the first restriction is the stock downpipe, the second is the stock manifolds. headers will take care of both of these.
option 2, you would probably pick "mild steel catted downpipe" unless you want to get rid of your cat. there is really no reason to have a stainless downpipe unless youre that worried about it.
I would take your old cat to the local scrape yard you will get more for it.
ebay headers do include downpipe. there is all the information you need about these headers in the links i posted...
if you want to run a cat thats up to you , and most slip-fit 3" cats will fit right up.
dont all headers come with downpipes except togs which you have to buy sepretly???
the pacesetters downpipe slips on at the Y then bolts on then slips on at the resinator.
i have no cat but i have yet to really hear what it sound like with out leaks :/ the first crank up when i had it sealed tho it sounded mean!!!! :D
no complaints here, they flow like crazy (exhuast leak at the Y and you can really here that thing huffing some air in the upper rpms-hopefully have that leak fixed in a few days) they are a bishh to get sealed properly but with a little patience and the right clamps im sure there gonna seal up good.
BUT.. headers are they way to go :th_winking: im glad i dident waste my time with a p-log and downpipe
pacesetters should be welded 99.9% of the time
its pretty hard to weld all the way around the y pipe when its on the car. and if you weld the Y pipe before im sure it would be pretty difficult getting them in there. with a lift im sure you could do it.
there is people that use clamps and have no problems. ill try to prove that next week :D
the thing is not many people know of the "right" clamp to use. i never knew anything about a step clamp before this.

dont get a cheap set of headers if you arent mechanically inclined to fix the problems they have.
So here is a little update I have been talking to TDCRacing and I have decided to go with his FWI and get it either painted red or powdercoated red. Next I think I have decided to go with the ZZP headers even though they are pretty pricey :th_angry2: but you get what you pay for :th_king-evil I can tell this is going to be murder on the wallet, not like our mustangs :mad:
So my list so far is:
1:180*C T-stat-easy and cheap haha
2:TDCRacing FWI (not really needed that much to start with but looks much better than stock)
3:Colder Plugs/New Wires-Not sure which yet but have had AL 104 plugs suggested not sure if they are good for a smaller pulley build eventually or keep stock plugs/wires
4:Headers from ZZP-Pricey :th_tongue2:but should be a great start for running a smaller pulley down the line
So far I think I have generated a good list, it isn't great but so far it's good :th_jester: anyone see any problems with this.
why isnt a pulley on that list....?
