I have a 98 GTP and a couple of weeks ago I replaced the fuel filter and ever since then the car has been kicking the Service Engine Soon light on. The engine will cut-out intermittently at all speeds, even at idle, in park and neutral, but it is not consistent. Some days it runs fine and the SES light goes off and other times it kicks the SES light back on, and it doesn't seem to matter if it is cold or warn out. I thought maybe that it was a bad fuel filter, so I replaced it again, but the problem still exists. I don't think that it is the spark plugs or wires because it does it at all RPM levels not just under hard acceleration. The only thing else that I could think of is that it may have water in the fuel tank that is freezing enough to slow the fuel flow down. I am going to try and get the SES light to come back on and take it to the shop in the next few days and have it scanned for a code. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Take it and get it scanned now. The code would still be in the history even though the light isn't set.

I got it scanned today and it had set 2 codes, one was the MAF sensor and the other was the EGR.
The mechanic recommended that I use some carb cleaner to clean it, but that didn't seem to make any difference and I also cleaned the EGR valve with carb cleaner, still have the problem.

I replaced the MAF sensor yesterday, SES went out and the problem seems to be fixed.
