Re: Why is my supercharger making a whining noise.
First I took the s/c belt off, still makes the noise. Then took the serpentine belt off and it still makes the noise. I spun all of the pulleys by hand(except the crank of course) and none of them made any weird noise, besides the alt. sounding a little like a hamster wheel.
Does this mean it is something with the transmission?
A little more description........ it is barely noticeable unless the car is in gear. When the car gets over 40mph, it's barely audible, almost seems like it disappears when cruising above that speed, in 4th gear, ever with giving it gas, unless it downshifts to 3rd. But it's more noticeable in 1st and 2nd gear under light acceleration.
Re: Why is my supercharger making a whining noise. UPDATE, pulled belts, it's tranny?
yeah trans is going out
you can drop the pan and replace the filter but it sounds like the pump is already dying

I'd check this out if your trans is dying. I have this in my 05 and it is doing great, also with a cooler.
Re: Why is my supercharger making a whining noise. UPDATE, pulled belts, it's tranny?
A local Mr. Transmission looked at it today and did a diagnostic check without dropping the pan. They believe it's either the torque converter or the pump, and that they wouldn't be able to know more without taking the tranny off and opening it up. They said that'd cost $595 plus what needed replaced and that a rebuild would run $1600 to $2000.
I'm thinking I might swap a junk yard tranny in time it and then down the road, get a rebuilt from the company posted above.
