Anyone ever hear of a pump canister swelling in the tank to the point that its too big to come out of the access hole? I went to install a walbro over the weekend and couldnt get the old pump out to replace it. The canister was just slightly bigger than the hole it was supposed to come out of.

Lolll, love the title to your thread.

It's possible that the canister has deformed a bit over the years from heat (running low on fuel can cause this). May just have to pry it out of there somehow.

When I saw the hole it looked like it had the hole in the tank then like some other plastic piece that it was getting caught on. I think you seen what I am talking about. If there was and I looked at it wrong has to be a way it comes off.

That was all one piece. I stuck my hand in and felt for a gap but it was smooth. The only thing I would think could come out was the black ring on the top, allowing you to tilt the canister enough that it would slide out.

However, the two different color plastics seemed to be fused together. I honestly believe its one solid piece.

Ill have to find someone with alldata that can see if theres a step I was missing.

Yeah I did one on a park ave recently and had that issue, took me like 5 minutes but I got it. I put one side of the unit against the tank and pressed on it and pulled the other side of the unit up and it barley cleared. When reinstalling, it scraped the whole way down so I know it was a tight fit.

There was like 4 of us thaat tried to get it at every angle, your description seemed to get us the closest, but it was obvious that the canister is bigger than the hole in the tank. Maybe ill give it another shot when it warms up later this week

Yeah, trick is to only put just a little of the sending unit on the tank and press, the more you put of one side, the harder it is to get the other up since it will be on a larger angle. If that still doesn't work out then maybe get something real thin to put in between and get one side, and pry to get the rest through. Maybe like a razor blade, or if you can find something else thin and sturdy.

I know exactly what you mean. I appreciate the tip.

We tried for several hours. I think im going to have a backup canister on hand in case I break it, its going to take some serious force.

I appreciate that, and the help over the weekend.

I think the end result is going to be me breaking it, fishing for canister pieces and then putting in a new one. May just have a backup ready and wait for the stocker to go out now that e85 is fading from my hopes

What effect does it have on the motor when mixed with gas untuned? I cant imagine there's anything positive about it
