I just got the heads pulled off my comp g. I took my heads to work cleaned them up in the parts washer . I then noticed 2 small cracks between the valves in one of my heads, this was the head and cylinder that coolant was making its way into #2&4 cylinders. I am going to order a remanufactured head from eBay. Both heads are the same to my knowledge any.ideas on headgaskets? Should I have the head checked before scraping it. Also any tips would be appreciated to prevent another coolant leak.

Cracks between the valves don't cause a problem, it's very common to see that.

Won't cause a coolant leak either, likely somehow the head gasket failed or the head warped.

Stock gasket from GM will be fine, I'm sure others use felpro aswell.

Check the head to see if it's square or warped. Use a flat edge and a flashlight or feeler gauges to tell if it's warped.

The cracks are very common between the valves. Plenty of people have run them without issue.

I've used the FelPro's a bunch of times without issue, just make sure to follow the proper torque specs and sequence, and make sure the head and block are nice and clean.

Probable didn't need to pull the heads. You had coolant leaking in from the lower intake gaskets. Stock 3800 don't need head gaskets.

How much you want for the cracked heads? Haha

Who remanufacturing heads in eBay? Bet they want your core!

I have herd that wasent sure though. I did the feeler guage test on one spot I could get the .04 if I worked it under the straight edge.other than that its all good. Now I saw a spot on the headgasket looked to be burned pretty bad. Same place aswell between. 2&4 cylinders. Should I hold off on the head I can get it for 150 plus my head. Just replace all topend gaskets and tty bolts. I just would really hate spending 300 on parts than have to buy them again.

Okay hard to say at this point since it's been apart and back together. Don't no if new bolts used, good gaskets etc...

From what your saying the guy is rebuilding heads for $150 and making a profit. He can't be doing much but cleaning and checking.
