No. Never said that once. All I was implying is that, to me anyway, they are no more than a cheaper solution when replacing a 3800 and that I myself would stick to a supercharged bottom end for reliability concerns. To each their own, I've heard of guys blowing L26's on stock pulleys. They have the weakest rods in the 3800 platform.

I'm pushing hard because he asked for help fixing his car and your telling him you wouldn't use the NA block. It's just your opinion and it doesn't fix his car.
As far as we know there is nothing wrong with the block.

The higher compression ratio of an L36 or L26 bottom end makes it harder to run over 10-11psi, so some moderation in terms of boost levels need to apply. This is less of an issue with cammed or intercooled setups. Otherwise, reliability wise, not an issue running an L36/L26 block. Some of my old builds are 7-8 years and counting on L36 blocks.

I Have been doing some research on those bottom ends Rods and such. I know that the L26 that im fixing is out of an 2006 Grand Prix GT 70,000 miles. I think those L26 have the strong Rods Powder Metal I think. I think it was 04 and back that didn't have those type of rods. This is an article I found: The Series III motors include many changes. The upper intake manifold is now aluminum on the naturally aspirated models. Intake ports are mildy improved, 1.83" intake valves (instead of 1.80" as on Series II) and 1.52" exhaust valves were introduced in 2003 engines, just before switching to Series III. Electronic throttle control is added to all versions, as is returnless fuel injection. Stronger powdered metal sinter forged connecting rods are used in 2004+ supercharged, and 2005+ naturally aspirated engines, instead of the cast iron style from Series II engines. Emissions are also reduced. In 2005, it was the first gasoline engine in the industry to attain SULEV (Super Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle).
Also note that Series III engines are the base for any 3800 produced for the 2004 year and up. This means the same block, heads, & connecting rods apply to any remaining Series II engines made after 2004 also. The difference is that Series III engines received the new superchargers (Generation 5 - Eaton m90 - if equipped), intake manifolds, fuel systems, and electronics.

i wouldn't worry about the rods, both have been used, both can break if heavily modded.

This has been argued upon for quite some time now.. Some say the series 3 is stronger than the series 2 and vice versa. From what I've researched over the past few years, I'd say the L26 is the weakest of the bunch and L67 is the strongest.

I have also seen some pretty vicious L26 powered 15+psi turbo cars hold up just fine for a very long time after the host L67 went for a crap. I think the thread is sort of off topic now though. The OP wanted to know what to do, and he should be just fine with his L32 or L67 top end on his L26 bottom end without changing the whole thing.

I got my comp g up and running today. She runs great no issues or leaks so far. I did hook up my obd2 and got a #6cylinder missfire. It don't feel like it has a miss but im going to search into this. Trans shifts awesome changing all fluids as we speak.

ummm, is 898 WHP enough for you? Because thats what ZZP did on a stock N/A block. Only limited by the trans.. Seems to me our N/A blocks will put up with plenty of power.

I really Love the power it makes. They have the lower RPM power and followed by the boost they will pin you to the seat. It reminds me a lot of my dirtbike days how those 2 cycle motocross bike have that supper strong power band, well these cars are like that X10000. LOL. I am really enjoying my car. I traded my 96 Z28 6Spd for this 04 comp G with L26 Lower L32 Upper. I have put some money into it but it is so worth it... I think these cars will run with or out run the z28s, my opinion.
