Hello, I was just wondering if anyone can tell me where to find the two knock sensors for a 2001 GTP? By the way, I am a new W-body owner as well. I picked up a GTP recently and it does need some work but one of the things that is worrying me is that it is throwing the code P0332. I believe that is the bank 2 knock sensor. So if anyone can tell me where the knock sensors are located I would greatly appreciate it. I was looking all over the engine today and couldn't find it.

Its round and screwed into the block. One in the front by the ac compressor tubes and one in rear between the engine and tranny.

Sure your not actually getting knock? Don't hear about bad knock sensors?

I hear no sounds of any knocking. And I am running 91 octane on it now(best we can get). But I believe the previous owner probably didn't run it on premium. It is also throwing a code for running lean. I changed out the throttle body gasket because believe it or not they had made a cardboard gasket for it with silicon lathered all around it from a cereal box lol. So the knock sensors don't usually give out?

Check the wiring to the knock sensors. Make sure they are hooked up. The one closer to the back of the car is a PITA * 1.6

Based on that, I believe she is probably in need of maintenance. I would start with plugs and wires and change out the fuel filter. Hopefully there is nothing wrong with the motor. There is a reason the sticker states Premium Required and not Premium Recommended.

Yeah ill go ahead and finish all the maintenance on it. The previous owner probably never maintained it at all. I'm guessing the lean code is being caused by a bad fuel filter maybe? Ill check about the wires as well when I have time. So far though I love this car and body style.

Okay will do, so the knock sensors are easily visible from the top or the bottom? I'm not by the car right now. But I'm trying to get a good mental picture of where it could be. The knock sensor between the engine and transmission is by the firewall in the back by the exhaust manifolds?

the lean code, is bank one lean? if so look for a vac leak. spray some carb cleaner around the engine, move the vac lines if need be while spraying them, if the idle jumps up thats the leak area.

the knock sensors are seen from under the car. look up between the oil and tranny pan, and at the front of the engine block. they are fat round sensors with a plug on the end.

make sure they are plugged in.
