I've used Valvoline 10w-30 and changed it every 3000mi on my stock 00 GT. Ive heard that as long as you change it every 3,000mi there isn't a huge difference between the brands.

Now days all oils are good. Just make sure it has the API Service Symbol "Donut" and Certification Mark "Starburst"—help consumers identify quality engine oils for their gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles.

oil is oil in my book. synthetic gets just as dirty after 3,000 miles letting it go longer dont make sense to me.

so i change it every 3,000 miles and buy whats on sale with a filter. about 22 bucks most of the time. get what grade oil it says on your oil cap and your fine.

For longevity and performance I use Mobil 1 5w-30 or 10w-30 depending on the season. I noticed a difference going from conventional in performance. Expect more leaks and don't try going back to conventional after you switch though. Usually don't have any issues with the engine, transmissions hate me though .

If you can find a oil that is API service SL rated they have higher levels of ZDDP which is the main anti-wear additive in oil. I use valvoline synthetic vr1 10-30 and wix filter every 3k.

But in all seriousness it has to do with the cold weights of the oil and warm weights. As in the viscosity of it I believe. The 5w-30 starts off thinner than the 10w-30 but when warm they are the same.

I believe its the winter viscosity rating. 5w being thinner than 10w - don't quote me but I am pretty sure thats the difference I run 5w in the winter 10w in the summer

I just run 10-30 synthetic from a name brand and change it after the oil life starts getting low.

Well why not run what's recommended? I need to do an oil change and I want to know what's better viscosity for my motor

You'd be safe running either But when it gets colder the 5w-30 isn't as thick so when you start your motor it will lubricate better right away.

If I were you Id stick with the 10W-30 if that's what is suggested. Unless you want to change it again when temps warm up.

Changes with the climate/temp. Should be in your owners manual if you have one.

I just buy the cheapest on rebate 5w-30 I can find, usually get a 5L jug for 15$ taxed. Change it every other 2500-3000 miles. Oil is oil.

I only use Mobil 1 10W 30 with a Napa gold filter and change it every 5,000kms. I usually buy a couple jugs when it's on sale.
