I have an extra L32 motor that is just sitting around and want to make a project out of it. Ive thought about putting it into a cavalier or cobalt but decided if i wanted a fast car then i would just get one. So i am currently trying to decide on something else to put it in. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. The current HP on it is 284 hp.

There's a kit car that uses the L67 as one of the engine options. Pretty cool little thing for track days.

OK, Thats a cool idea but a little pricey, if i dont get anything else then ill probably go with that. But i was thinking of building and fabricating something myself. im an experienced welder and have design experience. Can i mount this engine as a rwd platform if its mounted in the rear? and i probably want a physically smaller trans, what are my options

Mounting the engine in the rear similar to a fiero: 4T65e or Getrag 284.

Mounting the engine in the right spot:
    Automatic: 4L60E
    Manual: T5

If i did that then doesnt the fiero also have a 6 speed manual designed for a rwd platform? If so will that mount on the engine? Also this engine has 284 hp, can the fiero trans handle everything the engine can put to?

    Random number 284.

Is that dyno'd in the previous car?

    Cavalier, yes.

Wouldn't bother with a Cobalt. Would be too much work trying to get it to work, electronics wise.

yes it was dynod on a previous car, but this recent snowstorm took its part to play and removed the rear end of my car and the culprit drove off without any information. Its a 2005 L32 engine so electronics should all be similar correct?

Not really, a 2005 Cobalt and a 2005 Grand Prix aren't very comparable...other than they're both GM products and FWD.

I wouldn't just assume anything on that subject really.

T56 on a 3800 would be up to you.

There was talk of an adapter plate long ago, but I never bothered to see if anything came of it.

For info on the Fiero swap I would check out the Fiero forums, lots of info over there. http://www.fiero.nl/cgi-bin/fiero/Ultimate.cgi

I remember Austin talking about that adapter for the T56 cuz he wants one for the Camaro.
