Ok so I've had my grand prix for about 5 months and I love this car. This is my story:

about a week ago my tire was low and I aired it up asap. After I put air in in everytime I would take off from a stop I could hear a popping noise kinda sounded like a bad balljoint or tie rod coming from that area.

So today I was driving it on the highway doing about 65 and I heard a weird noise kinda like it was a bearing or something. I pull over and the car is kinda jerky like its losing power.

It wasn't missing gears or slipping or anything like that which leads me to believe that its not the trans. so I drove it a little in the parking lot and it had like a knocking sound to it when in gear so I parked it. The motor sounds great but it will not go anywhere. Is it time for a new transmission?

well I checked those last week and axles are fine. One guy told me that they have something called a rear ring that holds the passenger side axle to the transmission and that they break all the time and when it does it won't go anywhere. Ever hear of this?

Yup, had it happen to a buddy a few times. Are you throwing any codes?

nope not throwing any codes. I'll try taking off the axel and see if the ring is broken. I have to do it tomorrow, I've just never heard of anything like that with any of my other cars.

Every car is different. I had the same crap happen with this elantra I gave away. I thought it was the tranny. Found out 2 years later that the axel was ****ed up from the guy I gave it to.
