Would there be any advantages in putting 91 or 93 in a 3.1,I want to figure out how to make it somewhat faster, will my gtp be any faster since the hp was reduced due to regular gas?

Last I checked you can run 87... You do realize you posted this in the SC section so most of us will be respond as if it was s/c car.

The 3.1 is a turd anyways and no you will not notice a hp increase.

Gotcha.. And still no you still won't notice a increase.. You'll just be helping to keep some potential knock down.

Now if your were talking racegas, e85 and advancing timing etc yea you'll be a increase but that's a whole other story.

Not exactly but you'll want a tune to benefit from it in reality.

    I just wouldn't do it

Weird, my owners manual for my GTP says 87 is fine. I was running 87 when I first bought it because I didn't know it was better for it to run the higher octane. It ran fine and on a 400ish mile trip I got about 31.9mpg doing 70mph running 87. After I got home from the long trip is when I sorta started to read about using 91+ so I began using 93 since nobody around me sells 91, and 2 gas stations sell 92 at the same price the others sell 93 at

Tomtom123, re-read your owners manual. A 99 GTP owners manual, page 6-3 reads and I quote:

"If you have the 3800 Supercharged V6 engine (VIN Code 1), use premium unleaded gasoline rated at
91 octane or higher. With the 3800 Supercharged engine, in an emergency, you may be able to use a lower octane -- as low as 87 -- if heavy knocking does
not occur. If you are using 91 or higher octane unleaded gasoline and you hear heavy knocking, your engine needs service."

You can run 87 just fine as long as there is no boost. Enter boost and you could go boom.
