So, I will be doing the LIM job as well, just wanted to get some feedback from the pro's about if I've got all the stuff I'll need/want while I'm in my Car's Engine-guts. I'll also be doing a pass. side (right hand?) axle and hub replacement, previous owner must have hit a curb...or pedestrian...or rock.

In case its not in my sig or info somewhere: 2002 GTP, 62k miles

    Here goes, from RockAuto.com:
    Manufacturer................Name.................. .........................part #

Value Pro ...................Driven Hub w/ Integral ABS..............513179
Cardone Select ............Front Right CVA ............................661256
    Fel-Pro........................Intake Manifold Gasket....................MS98014T
    Fel-Pro .......................Valve cover Gasket w/ Grommets......VS50465R
    Fel-Pro........................Plenum Gasket...............................MS95744
    Fel-Pro........................Throttle Body Gasket......................61024
    Fel-Pro........................T-stat housing gasket...................35666
    Fel-Pro........................Fuel Injector O-Ring........................ES70599 (x2 packs = 8 all together...just in case?)
    Dorman.......................Coolant Elbow (aluminum)..................47065HP
    Autolite.......................Spark Plug.....................................606
    Bosch..........................Spark Plug Wire Set........................09457

    From the hardware store:
    Thread Sealant

At some point I'll be making my own Air Intake, most likely with a Spectre filter and a home-made box (lets not worry about the differing opinions about open vs CAI though)

Before I place orders, is there any other maintenance or preventive items I should be looking at? This is a daily driver for now, no need to go racing or up HP or anything, just want as good of MPG as I can get and make it last as long as possible. I'm putting roughly 150 miles/day plus or minus.

So, I've gotten some parts in and the plan is to start the axle/hub this weekend, and the LIM in a few weeks. I wanted to confirm something first. I got the Felpro LIM and it looks different that some of the others I've seen before. I want to know if this is the right one:

Im curious because of all the extra black stuff everywhere...close up below:

Do I need to clean anything up, or is this the right one? Thanks for the advice!!

those are the newest version, they are good to use. the other metal ones have green seals.

I know you didn't ask...but...if its not too late, consider doing some (more) research on hub and CVA. In the 2 yrs I've had my GTP, I replaced both front axles & so many hubs I'm embarrassed to admit--but I've had 2 ZZP, 2 Duralast, & 1 Timken go bad--the only brand that has not failed (yet) in the moog. I only the best. Good luck, enjoy your ride.

Already have the part and planning to put it in on Sunday. If it goes bad, I'll look into the Moog. Fingers crossed I won't have to!

So the hub and axle came off (with a little effort) and the replacements fit like a champ. Crazy that I thought this whole thing would be ridiculous. One question though:

How necessary is the thread lock, and how tight of a fit is the ball joint on the bottom of the knuckle supposed to be? It took me about 2 hours to finally get that thing to open up, and its definitely not as snug now after I finished as it was starting off. Just curious about it.

the ball joint nut should be rather tight, then put the cotter pin in through the castle nut.

If you have or have not done it yet don't forget changing your oil before you start your car. Would suck to do a LIM replacement, drop some coolant in the oil and spin a bearing.

Get a shop vac and suck out the coolant out of t-stat hole before removing the LIM.

i took the dog bones off, rocked the engine back and fourth a few times, (with the lower rad hose off) broke the upper elbow, then lifted the lim up as level as i could, not a drop leaked from the lim, and i did not change my oil.

theres a lip at the coolant ports, it will hold what little bit off coolant is in the lim if its kept level.

its tight on top, where the castle nut and cotter pin go, but seems to have more room at the bottom of the knuckle that before I started. I've gone driving with it (about 15 miles) to do some road testing, and all seems fine so far
