Ill start with explaining myself. I have always wanted a evo 8 or 9. if i bought the evo i am assuming just about all of my money will be spent on the loan/ insurance of it.

So what im trying to figure out if i should say screw the gtp and get a evo or pimp the gtp. What i need to know is how much hp would i roughly have with e85 roller rockers and maybe headers and also how much would this cost.it already has a dp/intake and a zzp mps waiting on my decision and the vehicle has 110,000 miles on it. i have friends that would help installation/tuning so that doesn't have to be figured into the cost.

The next question is reliability? would the car after all this still be a good dd even during -30 degree weather. tied in with reliability would the engine and transmission be able to hold this added power and not fail? I have replaced the LIM and run mobile 1 synthetic and it has no problems. The transmission doesn't slip or anything yet.

just want opinion and cost/rough hp numbers. also sorry i didn't know where to place this exactly.

Count on 275whp on E85 and 1.9 rockers.

    1.9 Rockers - $175
    L76 Valve Springs - $40
    LS Style Retainers - $30
    Shift kit - $50
    Trans Fluid - $25
    Total = ~$320ish

Reliability will be good as you won't be in the HP range where you typically start breaking a lot of parts.

Granted the EVO would be a whole lot of fun....but at a higher cost. Most out there have been beat to hell and the few that are very nice are also very expensive. Loan payment, insurance, performance parts are all going to be way higher than a GTP. I always mod on the cheap so I'd say stick with the GTP and run it into the ground, then decided after it's dead.

    i agree with him ^^

although you have good tastes in evos

i actually thought about getting and evo instead of the GTP a while ago, but decided the expense was too high and knew what the GTP has been through so i decided it was a better bet to keep it for the time being.

Where at in north dakota? A header open cone intake and gutted gtp will toy with a lot of cars around grand forks anywhere but on the interstate because the top end sucks on these cars for the most part ask me how I know haha!..............

Keep the grand prix mod it as you go and save the money for a toy car that doesn't have to be a daily driver. For example something cheap and rwd because as you know we have that white sh1t on the ground for like 8 months a year!

Not to mention EVO parts aren't the cheapest and aren't the easiest to work on. Keep GP mod it a bit more to keep you happy and then save up for a toy.

i live in bismarck and what else would i need to break about 300 whp. my friends 2010 ralliart had alittle over 300 on 91 octane and was hella fun but idk what other bolt ons i could do? and yea i want an electric blue evo 9 so bad. i also got drag racing about a month ago so insurance is definitely a key factor in this.

    Got caught you mean?

kiss that evo goodbye, unless you want to send in a slice of a testicle every month for insurance.

inake headers xp cam springs retainers rollermaster chain and e 85 could drop you to a 3.0-3.2 i believe and with good tuning should get you where you want.
but like Greg said shift kit fluid ect. to keep your trans happy

All this could be done for under a grand.

ha alright well my parents would insure it but id pay them cause technically i drive a 89 chevy right now. is a cam the only way i could break 300 whp? and dont you have to pull a engine for a cam install and roller chain? one of my buddies is a mechanic and has completely rebuilt 4 engines now but i would rather not have to pull the engine

Pulling the engine isnt really all that hard. You can put the cam and everything in with the engine in threw the wheel well but me personally would just pull the engine. Sure you could intercool it too but ide rather throw a cam in for that sexy lope cus lets face it these cars sound like ****.
