Thread: top speed question

I have a stock 2006 grand prix supercharged engine. it's a canadian car so the speedo read's in kilometers, anyway i was on the highway and opened her up and the most it wold do is 180 to 185. shouldn't go to the 220 mark or does it sound like something is wrong. The only thing i have on the car is 18" wheels and a cold air intake and it has new plugs and wires.

It's probably hitting the high speed cut off.

Is there any way to remove that?

You can with a tune

its not hitting the limiter.....200kph is 120mph.

Could a gm dealership remove it? cause i dont know of any place i can it to.

a gm dealer would laugh in your face if you asked them to remove it, go read the safely modding thread

ya i thought the gtp didnt have a limiter.

gtp limiter is 126

Since its a 06 its a GT not a GTP...

You can't tune 06+ cars with HPT, so that won't work.

my 98 gtp would go over 200 kph that's why i thought there might be something wrong with my 2006, like maybe a partially plugged cat

Why are you driving so fast in the first place? Seems dangerous.

I just wanted to try it out, i don't drive fast all the time.lol but it just seemed odd that a supercharged can only go 185.
