its a weird noise like scraping or rattleing and it comes and goes. and dont know what it is, or could be. maybe a ac compressor but i used a tethescope and it sounded good.

sounds like the clutch of the AC compressor
Oh, those are fireworks at 0:08 lol. Yeah stick your head in there and start manipulating things to see if the noise changes if you cannot find it right away. It does sound like an AC compressor, but if it's that bad, it must have been making noise for some time.
Nah that's all I've been hearing for the past few days are fireworks, I'm used to it. My compressor started making noise right after I bought my car, and it would come and go, I thought it depended on where the compressor left off. I'd hit the AC button, it would go away, and when it cycles, it would be louder sometimes. I literally just put some of the synthetic motor oil I use in my engine on the ac compressor, and the noise stopped and it's been perfect for months. I put it in the small space between the clutch on the end, and the pulley.
Have you changed the engine or trans? Someone else posted a noise like that a while ago on here, turned out to be the bolts on the torque converter backed out.
I had the exact same noise. Its the clutch on the ac compressor as previously said. I took it off and cleaned the clutch but what fixed it was bending it back to the un engaged position. I think overtime/heat made it half engaged and touch the pulley and cause that exact noise. Good luck.
What did you bend back exactly? Mine started doing the same thing a few days ago was wondering if it was shot or could be re-oiled/fixed somehow.
Its the the rings supported by the flat springs on the outer most part of the pulley that get engaged by the electromagnetic clutch. It didn't take much at all to bend but make sure it still engages.

At first I thought it was just the two slightly touching making that noise, putting oil on it stopped the noise. But they do actually have bearing problems. They get so bad that plate actually gets so much play in it that it gets like a quarter of an inch away from the pulley and still makes the noise.
You cant tell in the picture of my friends buick, but I could take that outer plate, and move it back and forth by hand it had so much play. Those are metal shavings around it. This is after putting oil on it, and the noise stopped.
No it was a temporary setback. It made it last a while longer, but he's still due for a new compressor.
wd-40 did the trick, i really didnt think it would be the ac clutch because of the fact of the noise not changeing when the ac was on or off. No more noise now so were good, Thanks
lol wd-40 was the first thing I tried on mine. I did work but only lasted a week or two before making noise again, that's why I'm using engine oil, it doesn't evaporate.
