Just like the title says. I did a WOT run and the Changing system failure warning came on the DIC. I cleared the message to check the voltage still at WOT and saw it at 10.90 and dropping, I let off and it shot right back up to 14.8? Any input? alt is failing?

ouch thats not so good. yeah looks like its alt time.

i just changed mine the other day, called a local re builder cost 80 bucks from them, vs over a 100 or more everywhere else. the best i could find from a store was advance with a code i got it to 100.

not sure what alt the 05's got but i found a rebuild kit for mine, cs130D alt <<whats on a 98. for 40 bucks, problem is you need a press to get the bearings out of the cars, unless you just swap out the regulator and brushes, VERY EASY LOOKING TO DO BTW. they dont cost a lot either.

Maybe the belt just needs tightening? Maybe going WOT made the belt slip. Slipping belt = no charge.

Being that it only happens at WOT, is it possible that the belt is slipping and thus not allowing the alt to keep up? Not saying the alt isn't dying, just wondering...

google starter and alternator re builders in your area. they are far cheaper, and local, if they dont have one in stock you drop yours off, they can re build it in hours most of the time. they are local too so no shipping fees, same day service too.
