I have a 2000 top swap with an xp cam. I am doing Borla pro xs mufflers, which will be replacing flowmaster super 44s which I hate! I was thinking about getting a new resonator just for the hell of it since I hate the rasp. Then I heard of people replacing the res with a glasspack. What difference would that make? Less rasp? more quiet? louder??

A glasspack is a resonator basically, thats why we use them. They are way cheaper and help tone down the rasp.

Would you suggest a glasspack over a resonator? I don't mind spending more with whatever means as long as it keeps down the rasp to a minimal.

Long glasspack, 3" piping, stock mufflers and done. Let the blower do all the talking, sleeper status.

I have SD headers, NO cat, NO res, all 2.5 piping going into 2 Borla Pro XS mufflers... I LOVE the sound!!!! Granted I do not have a res and I do not have tips yet so my exhaust is still a work in progress.. LOL I will be ordering the dual 4" tips like on the G8's and trimming my rear facia. I am stuck where you are regarding a res. I want one because yes it drones and there is some rasp (but I can't tell what's what without tips on my car at the moment.. so it's fairly bad) but I will start with the tips then pick out a res. I'm looking at a large Magnaflow res... But sleeper status or not, Borla is one of the few mufflers I like on these cars. I had blowmaster 40's on mine before my swap, with a glasspack. But Borla, at WOT... fap fap fap fap... sorry,

Id suggest to get either or..my borlas sound good with the g8 tips but I have no res or glasspack at the moment..a little loud n yes you can hear it from in the cabin just cruising quite a bit..either the longer glasspacks or the stock reaonator would do just fine but thats most expensive.

That was my thinking because I have a lot of resonance from my exhaust just spitting straight out from the muffler under the car.. Tips will help a lot and will start there and work back.......... IF needed..

I also used a cheap Summit 30" glasspack when I did my exhaust. I built it all myself, and turned out great IMO. Only complaint I hear is there glasspacks will get "burned out" or whatever faster, then it will essentially be a straight pipe. Where as an actual resonator will last longer.
