A year ago, we got a 1998 Pontiac GTP which now has just over 200,000 miles on it. Since we've had it, we've known about a Misfire in one of the cylinders.

For a months or so now, when the weather is warmer (70F+) the car has had its chances of "stalling" -the best way I could put it- and shut off. I wouldn't be able to start it for a few seconds, but after a few moments it would start up and be good. It has happened to me as I was accelerating.

Recently we checked the codes again and it came back as a random misfire in Cylinder 3 -I don't remember the code, sorry-. We thought it could be either the Spark Plugs, the Spark Plug Cables, or the Fuel Injector. I believe we have already tried replacing the Plugs, just not the cables yet.

I'm not too experienced with cars, but my dad and grandfather are, but they can't seem to find the fuel rail -I believe is the name. The section that holds the fuel injectors-. Where exactly is it?

Another thing, I know that with the miles it has the transmission can start to go out. How will I know when it begins to start slipping?

    Many thanks.

Change the plugs and wires. Fuel rail is right on top of the motor under the plastic engine cover.

Is there any specific type of wires that I need?

Alright, thank you. I'll get those in a few weeks and we'll see then.

Still, though, if anyone can explain on what I should be looking for to know if the transmission starts to slip, it would be helpful. I will do research.

    Thanks again.
