    I'm trying to decide between a 1997 gtp coupe with 100,000 miles and an 04 comp g 125,000 miles. 2000 for the 97 5000 for the 04

Good luck finding a 97 that ain't rotted out somewhere
Do the 04+ have any rocker, gas cap or rear strut rust issues?

im going to look at the 97 coupe today. I forgot to check for rust in those spots on the comp g when I looked at it the other day. the thing that irritates me about the comp g is that the dude is my friend and he wont sell it until he finds a replacement car which could be a couple weeks and I don't really feel like waiting that long. he puts like 100 miles on it a day for work 5 days a week. to me the value is in the 97 coupe because its less than half the price. I'm just trying to decide if the comp g has enough performance to make up the difference.

The comp-g will actually be slower by a hair than the 97, just due to the 250lb weight difference. I'd go with the 97 provided it is not rotted somehow.

The weight difference is only just over a hundred pounds. But if it were me id take the 97 just cuz less miles and its a coupe.

Also remember that on things of those ages milage is only a number, it really comes down to how well maintained the vehicles have been.

Comp g also shouldn't have the rust issues that the previous gen tend to have. It's 2013 you might as well get something more updated then a 97 GTP you'll probably be happier in the long run. Yea it cost a bit more but its still a newer car. Look at guys like Dsmuts who recently updated to a 04 and from what I here he has no regrets just food for thought. They're are a bunch of guys that went from the previous gen to the new gen.

I agree with REDCOMPG and dsmuts. I have both, and the Comp G is a lot more car! You won't be disappointed.

I hate 04+'s so bad, they look terrible, the only thing they got going for them is the better seats, but I swapped in a set of GXP's and it only took about an hour with cleaning.

I had 4 of the older gtps and always thought the newer ones were ugly and just not as nice, but then they got old,and i bought an 04 gtp comp g, And i love it, i have had a couple issues with it, but you have issues with them sometimes no matter what. I love my 04, I would go with that. And like they have said im sure the older one is prob all rotted out under the doors On the bottom of the car if not more.
