bad sensor maybe

i have a 97 gtp and is this a common prob 4 any of u guys. When i go and nail the gas to WOT my low cooliant light flashes and stays on until i get to normal rpm's and some times it randomly comes on and stays i just put a new radiator in 2 weeks ago and cooliant so i know its full hummmm....... could it be that my gtp has a low coolant SHIFT light lol jk or maybe its just that bad ass

There are two things that come to mind:

1. The sensor could be bad or flaky, though Ive never heard of them going 'bad' in this way.
2. When you spin the water pump up like that it could be pulling the coolant level down in the radiator and tripping the level light, though this isnt entirely normal.

I would first check your coolant level and make sure its good and that you have bled the system of air and once that is done, fill it up to level. Ive done it before on other vehicles (its a little hard to do on the GP) but when I would flush the radiator I would fill it back up and let it idle to the point of opening up the thermostat so it would get the coolant throughout the system, then I would grab the throttle lever and rev up the engine some so that it would suck down the coolant and at the same time pour in coolant to the radiator until it was full then put on the radiator cap and let off the throttle. What ever was too much would go into the overflow but I knew I had the thing as full as it was going to get.

It was a little tricky to do by yourself, and near impossible to do by yourself on the GP. But I would start with those two areas and see if that solves the issue. There could also be some Dex Cool crud on the sensor and when you punch it it could be causing some cavitation in the radiator as well and causing the flaky reading. But its not unheard of either of those sensors going bad.
