Today when I was changing my oil I noticed coolant has been leaking through the lim gasket. it has the junk style one on it. I plan on replacing that along with the supercharger gasket. any other things I should replace while i'm that deep? aka valve cover gaskets, throttle body gasket etc?

also I noticed this FEL-PRO Part # MS98014T at ra. I know the two are for the thermostat. are the six little ones for the injectors? and the two for the coolant passages? and whats the rest of the stuff for?

You could do valve cover gaskets, the orings on the fuel injectors, I think the Fel-Pro kit comes with orings. Tb gasket usually doesn't require changing. Tstat since you should flush your coolant. Coolant elbows since the plastic ones will most likely break when removing the lim.

yup all that stuff, all them gaskets come in a gasket kit. ( make sure they are the metal lim gaskets) valve covers are separate, buy a set that comes with new grommits, and buy flepro gaskets, for the upper plenum, aka sc gasket, and the valve covers.

i got ac delco metal lim gaskets, for 43 shipped from rock auto, and got the felpro upper plenum gasket local for 11 bucks.

you'll want some thread sealant for the lim bolts, and maybe new injector O rings as well. and a new set of elbows.

Small orings are for injectors, large orings are for the coolant elbows, idk why they supply replacement orings for the elbows they will break 99% of the time when removing the lim.

thanks for the input. I think ill go with that kit plus felpro sc gasket and valve cover gaskets. as for the elbow are the metal ones from zzp worth the extra couple bucks? and do the injector clips break/wear out very easy?

You can get the metal elbows anywhere, Dorman makes them. Not sure but ZZP usually is a premium pricing wise. Rockauto has em' online, autozone and advance auto has em too.

I always recommend if tearing the lim apart, that you might as well do all the fluids, including the tranny. Do a pan drop and replace the tranny filter too. Good time to do a shift kit if you want to get adventurous as its not too difficult as well while the tranny is open. Add Ignition wires, plugs, air filter or go open cone too while you're doing things. Take the throttle body of and clean it and the maf, only use maf cleaner on the maf. Coolant flush and replace the dexcrap is good time too as you'll drop most of your coolant doing the lim.

If you're keeping your plastic valve covers, the new gaskets... do not get them from ZZP (problems sealing correctly). Get the felpro kit as I think it has the grommets for the valve covers as well. Don't forget thread sealer, thread locker (blue) and copper RTV.

Make a list and be prepared before you start, have everything you need. Also note that a vac line here or there may break when you take things apart.

It all sounds like a lot but it's not.

what are they under from rock auto I couldn't find them. getting felpro valve cover gasket, intake manifold gasket, and supercharger gasket. also planning on doing the fluids but I might wait a couple weeks for that when I get some $ for a shift kit. i'll do plugs and when you say ignition wires your talkin spark plug wires just to clarify? if so there fairly new wont do those. I put on an open cone filter last summer so Ill prolly just clean it. if I clean throttle body and maf should I get a new gasket there? whats the copper rtv for? and also planning on replacing water pump since its only like $20 with a gasket then I won't have to worry about it.

watch this vid, it goes a bit further by also doing new lifters, but its the same job for the lim off and back on.

dont touch the head gaskets, not needed.

but if you were to put better heads on, you would need to unbolt the exhaust manifolds, the rockers arms, then unbolt the heads, then to put them back on you need new head bolts and gaskets.

Sorry to threadjack but may be helpful for more than one person: Does anybody have the Part # for the best Felpro LIM gasket set on a 3.8 S/C?
