I'm pretty sure the real issue the very poor casting of the stock unit on 97-03 cars.

If you going to use that L26 you bought, it already is better than a 97-03 motor, so you would not need it.

    Ok

The block from my 2005 GP was stamped the Series 2 stamp, but the cars production date was 9/04 which is normal from what I have read.

I have this L26 block from a 2005 Buick Lacrosse and the stamp says 3800 Series.... and there is no number... is that normal?

according to GM the spring is the same part number for both series 2 and 3. I looked into this at work.

Is that a real answer? If you're being sarcastic then I get it but sometimes I wonder how people figure out information on these websites. Kinda like a he said she said thing.

I bought one when I did my build 2 years ago. It's basically the stock spring and plunger with a washer under it to increase spring(oil) pressure. I did notice a increase in oil pressure. Holds 20lbs/in at idle

Actually guys, Ford stole the stamp from GM. That's why it disappeared from the block after certain years.

Buy a m6 (1/4) washer and put it in the plunger before the spring. Volla oil pressure increased.

It's not a stamp, it's raised up so it's part of the mold they use to cast the blocks.

Right now with a kit I got from rockauto I see 30-40 psi at idle and almost 90 at WOT.

The kit had the oil pump, spring, and plunger.
