Since yours are rotted out just get some new ones. As far as tips just find what you like and get them.

If you're not going aggressive pulley drops or turbo, cam, etc., there's no need to get crazy with exhaust. Stock cat back (2.5") is fine and dandy. Why? Because it provides enough flow for the HP as mentioned. Resonator kills the rasp, so if that's still good I'd keep it and just replace what's broken/rusted out.

There are lots of muffler combo's out there and is a well worn topic with a horse beaten dead! I don't usually say this, but you should really use the search function and google! There's gonna be hundreds of links to help you decide.

I installed Pacesetter headers and Catback (3" to the rear), hi flow cat, summit racing resonator (30") with Hooker Maxflow mufflers and love the sound. But it's like anything else, you say potAYYToe, I say potAAAtoe!

    Good luck!

I have a magnaflow muffler, to a glass pack, then to a Y and two tips. The system is lighter then stock and flows much better. Also it sounds pretty good too a little drone on the hwy but great at wot or idle. But I suspect most of the drone is from the exhaust leak I have where I have to cut out part of my exhaust to do the headers. When the topswap is done I will have it welded up and it should go away

Trying to find a link on my impala forum but cant seem to track it, but overkill made a thread about how catback, were bigger on 06+ impalas.
I know my 08 impala SS catback sound alot different then grandprix catbacks.
Gives you some more options if you looking for used catbacks.

You will hate those Flowmasters at every rpm above 1000...

I am extremely happy with my Magnaflows and a glass pack for a resonator. Smooth, noticeable burble at idle. Nice tone and volume (not too loud) at cruise. And a roar that isn't too ricey/raspy at WOT.
