    Where are the slincer ports on the SC, and how do you plug them? Do i need any other mods to to this?
    Oh its a 99 gtp with a home made cai.

    it's really not necessary to do. My understanding is they also help improve SC efficiency but haven't done any research on that. They're the diagonal ports in the SC outlet...people have made plates or had them welded. I personally don't see the need.

    Add some headers, smaller pulley, and get a tune. More whine. Not trying to be a jerk, but that's the correct way to get there.

    thats why im asking. I have never owned a gtp and i love it. just dont want to blow it up.
    any suggestion on headers? where to get a good tune?

    Well, I have SLP headers...some like SSAC or whatever off name they are now. 1 5/8" primaries are what you're after. The SSAC's are cheap and they work. As far as tune, there are lots of guys out there doing it. And you're also in the home state of ZZP.

    Pacesetters are alright.

    Many have had them for years without issues while others have had bad fitment and leaking issues with them. It's just the luck of the draw.

    SS Auto Chrome are $225~ shipped brand new while Speed Daddy's off ebay are roughly the same price new. SSAC has bad customer service I've heard, while SD's are always out of stock.

    To get more whine, you need to make the pulley smaller. Smaller pulley + Faster spinning blower = WHINE.

    Truthfully, you can either weld the ports in, put a plate in to cover them, pulley down hardcore, or swap blowers. Those are the only ways to get more whine. Welding the ports in works well, gets louder, doesn't hinder efficiency, they just keep it quiet for John Public. The only problem is if the weld comes undone ever, you now suck metal into the motor and foul things up.

    The 2 threads I list will help get more out of the car, and dropping pulley size will help get more sound out of it, but go too far and ka-boom. So follow it and no worries.

    Like i said, i dont want to blow up my car. I want to do it right. Im not good with exhaust work so, thats where i need help. Iv read the safely modding thread. I just dont understand the down pipe u bend weather to keep it or not. I dont have a welder so i cant cut and reweld. I would love to do this at home and not take it to a shop.

    ^ This is what you'll want to do regardless. The top is factory u-bend. It is shown as it is on all grand prixs in our body style, it squishes down so the 02 sensor can sit on top and be safe (good idea, poor execution). What it does is cause a hefty restriction and lack of flow leads towards KR, which will cause the car to run lean, which will cause pistons to chip, which will cause your wallet to barf up money for no good reason.

    Ideally, if you want to run a smaller pulley and get the most out of the car, you want to order headers. It sounds scary, but it can be done easily with basic tools and a empty weekend, by yourself. I know, that's how I did it.

    The link above will take you to BillBoost37's how to do it the easy way, and it's a simple walk-through.

    Headers will give you a slightly deeper tone at idle, a little more exhaust sound while driving, ALOT more flow, and a solid platform for just about any other mod you want to throw at the car. Its worth its weight in gold, but you can buy good cheap versions for under $300. ***The only thing is, with headers, you'd need to have a shop weld in a new CAT or get the codes tuned out if you can get away with emissions, and you'd need to buy or build your own 02 sensor extension harness as the front 02 sensor is relocated. Otherwise everything is simple, altho better clamps can be bought and a better flex pipe can be installed, but what they come with will get the job done.

    If you don't want to do this, I wouldn't bother with mods, the bug will require you do to do more work than a simple header install will demand and sometimes, it gets deep into the pockets.

    Thank you very much for the information TLSheff. I would just want to see if i caught this right. I buy headers, buy a ubend delete, have shop weld in cat. buy/make a o2 extension.

    Obviously you don't get how this works if you still think you need the UBD after buying headers.

    Buying headers gets rid of the U-bend.

    I suggest some more researching.

    ^ This. Everything but the ubend delete tho. Headers fix it all, they just have a "race-pipe" inplace of where the CAT goes, so if you want to keep with emissions, you need one welded in.

    Not really.

    If you get a universal 3" Magnaflow cat the same length as the cat delete pipe then it'll just slip in as well like the race pipe would.
