So i was reading around trying to figure out the reasoning behind the 6 kr im getting with no pully drop. Nothing seems to be interfering with anything to seem like its false. So i came across this thread saying that he was getting kr cus he pulled out his maf screen and when he put it back in it went away. Makes sense, incorrect maf reading doesnt know wtf is going on right. Well i have my cone right on the end of my maf. Should i extend this to get a more straight through airflow?

I use to run no screen and saw up to 7* (some of which was false knock). After installing a new screen the most I saw afterwards was about 3*. Then when I did a new motor and trans mount I only got random blips depending on weather conditions.

hmm idk just an idea ima gonna do it anyway and see what happens. In theory it should make it easier to tune right?
Or could it be the fact that im getting the kr with it being 40-50 out. Basicly like running a smaller pully without a tune?

get a MAF screen before your tune unless you have a WideBand. Also. 7* of KR is not unheard of on these cars in stock form.

I have a screen i was just questioning the filter being so close to the maf and not having time to balance out befor it reaches the sensor

Let me say this then... I have my filter right on the end of my TB. I am on headers and a 3.4 with a stock tune(for now) and I still only see 2*ish of KR.

Clearly you don't have a tuner and can't view how the MAF reads numbers, it makes a big difference when the filter is on the end of the TB compared to a filter that is 6+ inches away, because the air won't see as much turbulance.

I guess you didnt read or havent seen the few threads about people having issue with the filter right on the end of the MAF, just recently a guy had that problem, moved filter farther away and all his problems were gone.

If it was me I would move it away from the MAF, but you'd still need the car on the scope to figure out where the KR might be coming from.

Move it and see if that helps. Not all the cars are equal in how they react to things.

I tried w/o a maf and the car was fast as hell for 5 minutes. Then I realized how lean it had become. Maf wasn't seeing all the air. Others have success running w/o the screen. GM knew there may be an issue and they put that little thing in the 97-03's. For your year..they designed things for a purpose as well. Best we can do is experiement a little.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
