Hey guys, I've been battling this for abit and I am getting prices on a new cat... All local shops are offering "aftermarket" cats ($280-400 installed), which I have been warned that would continue to allow this code to come up. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I also found this one...

Eco GM; 38" Overall Length; 1 Front Gasket; 1 Rear Gasket
Eastern ECO-GM Converters:
  • Developed specifically to meet the emissions challenges of GM 2.2, 3.1,3.4, and 3.8L engines, ECO-GM catalyst formulation will meet these engines’ special OBDII requirements.
  • The new ECO-GM catalyst washcoat was designed by the OE supplier to maximize emissions performance and oxygen storage capability.
  • Proprietary NANO technology chemistry yields highly efficient loadings for lower cost and better converter efficiency.
  • Full top and bottom heat shields on most converters.
  • High flow design retains maximum engine output and maximizes catalytic efficiency.

For a good price of $185 from rockauto, not sure if that will continue to have the code problem... It hasn't caused driveability problems but we have some stickler drive clean scam going on in ontario where they actually hook up to your computer and test all your monitors, and repeatly was cat came up "not ready".... and after 3 tries I got a conditional pass but I'm sure they won't be so nice next time...

Thanks in advanced for any help you guys can offer,

Cheers.
