My buddies were mouthing off last night, one has a 2007 RS4 420HP & another has a modified 03 540i that dynoed 290rwhp & 340tq. Both guys are knocking on the 12's, very very low 13's around 107mph

My mod list is in my sig, can I keep up or beat one of these guys with the following constraints:

    No nitrous
    No slicks
    No cam
    No weight reduction
No trans work (until it blows - which it will eventually if I mod)
    Heads stay on

I am thinking my variables are:

    Full size intercooler
    Ported Gen 3 S/C OR Gen V?
    Custom Tune
    Pulley down
    Throttle Body

Any hope? Lets say a 2.0 60ft on street tires.

Step one...buy LSx powered vehicle (F-body if you will.)
Step two...install normal bolt on crap.
    Step three...enjoy.

This is quite possibly the easiest and cheapest way to go smack them around. Not trying to talk low about the W-body, but if you want to be fast...you're not exactly playing with the right platform.

Full size IC and a good tune will get you close pending driver mod

Pick yourself up a cheap Z7 or cartuning turbo kit and never look back. Without a cam and sticky tires, you are going to have a hard time hanging with them.

Theres always that option too^ lol but then your most likely going to be looking at a new trans shortly down the road. But you should be able to take them in a couple races first

A turbo car is easier on the trans than a supercharged car.

Short of a turbo, you have very little chance of keeping up.

So full size IC, 3.1 pulley, tune, TB and Gen V might get me mid 13's given the constraints? Seems slow? The turbo option works better because the air is not as hot? Even with turbo I would still suffer from poor stock head flow & all the other constraints. Would the parastic loss of the SC be the reason why the turbo kit could hit the 12's?

turbo is way different build than an SC build.
you could make more power on stock heads with a turbo kit than you can with ported heads and cam build on a supercharged car.
i dont even think its the parasitic loss...i think its more due to the fact that the m90 is a horrible blower.

With slicks and a good elevation, you could hit 12's. Without slicks, if you can drive, you're probably looking at low 13's at best.

Heads don't affect a turbo much. It's no problem making over 600whp on stock heads.

My sub 1.89 60 foot netted me a 13.8~ pass around 100 mph on a 3.5" pulley, 1.84 rollers, Open Cone, PEM's/3" DP & catback, stock tune IIRC.

I did that on low psi 225/60/16's Bridgestone Potenza's in the fall and no headlight (I think I normally set the tires around 25~psi or so).

Slicks and gutting it would change the program quite a bit, if the trans would take it...driver mod depending it should just fine, IMO. Someone here went mid 13's on a totally stock~ car with open headers, no catback, and slicks...and probably an intake. Can't remember but it's in the kills section here somewhere.

Get a RWD car with an LS

a 400+hp fbody will be well into the 12s

a 400+hp fibody with converter will be knocking on 11s

Ive been medicating with burnouts and alcohol

How to beat up on some fast German cars? Thats easy, just take a baseball bat to the German car and have your way with it.

    lol. jk

I would suggest getting something with more power to start with. Probably something newer so there is less maintenance for right now. F-bodys as suggested would work. Or you could get the newer GTO and turbo it or something. That would be cool.

Edit: Just saw it has to be your car. Ignore what I said.

This pretty much. Throw some spray in there and have your fun. Just know that it comes with a high risk.

^^^ its not a high risk if you set it up right and have enough fuel, granted you have access to your tune

If I ever ran on street drag radials I wouldnt have had too many problems running 11.8 on my old turbo gtp setup.
