Thread: DIY: brake/fuel lines

Recently discovered that i am leaking brake fluid from my lines running underneath the driver side. I took it in to get it checked out and was told that not only do my brake lines need to be replaced but so do my fuel lines because of how corroded they are. I was qouted 1000$ plus and to be honest i cant afford that at this point in my life so i absolutely need to do this myself with my brother so i can save money. Anyone who has exp with this? Degree of diffuculty? What parts i need? Where to get the parts? I really love my gtp and would hate to get rid of it.

It is not hard at all to make nice lines and flare ends, the key is to be patient and take your time making the bends and the double flares, don't buy a cheap flare tool either, you don't need the most expensive either, just get a qulity dauble flare tool and practice first. SOme lines under the GP neeed to be two pieces to make it much easier to install, just use a union to join them, it save alot of time and aggrivation than trying to snake one long line into place. I had to do this on the rear brake lines of my GTP.

And how much do you think this will cost me? Fuel/brake lines everything? Thanks fornyour time.
