Just curious if anyone has a part number for the larger oil filter you can use on these. Wix or napa is preferred. Thanks much!!

Why the need for a larger filter?

Just run a better filter and use 5 quarts of oil.

I believe you can use a s10/blazer filter, napa number is 21036 IIRC, but I suggest not using one incase of some freak thing happening and the oil filter smashes againsts the subframe and bye bye motor.

If your are to get the napa filter get the 1036 one , and not the 21036 it's the same thing but the 21036. Is a cheaper filter and doesn't clean as many microns as the 1036

I still fail to see how a longer filter would get damaged by the subframe tho. Stock balancer and stock coil springs. Intense racing . Zzp and 3800 store have never heard of that happening. Have you five finger?? And IMO the 3 I listed ARE 3 of the best filters

What does the balancer or springs have to do with anything?

The problem is the motor/trans mounts that no one takes care of...then those fail and you get too much movement under load, the larger 4.3 filter will easily hit the subframe. Seentit brew.

Ill have to look again then. I didn't think there was that much movement , especially on a stock motor with aftermarket dogbones and or trans mount. I was under the impression it was a clearance issue. Only reason I'm asking is I'm running Mobil 1 extended performance and I wanted a larger filter for the different mileage intervals. Ill change my oil @5000-7500 regardless of what mobile one says on their "15,000 mile" interval but would like a bigger filter for a little better filtration if possible

It doesn't really filter that much more, the real problem is in the front cover...as the 3800's oiling system blows.

If you have aftermarket mounts then that doesn't count...I'm talking about the people that run them that don't pay any attention to the condition of their mounts and then wonder why they have a crushed filter.

Any suggestions on motor and trans mounts and bushings. I wanted to do that regardless of mods ( which will be slim to none ) as long as there wasn't a ton of added vibration
