You could have posted for the parts you needed. Some of us.. have hordes of stuff at times and just want it gone to a good home.

As for cars in your search: W body
    Monte Carlo
    Grand Poopy
    Regal (great car)
    GImpala

You can get the w body specific parts off any 3.8L motor in a W body car. Doesn't need to be charged. Which may have made that easier for you.

Then if you are simply looking for an SC motor:
    Bonneville SSEi
    Riviera
    Park Ave Ultra
    Gimpala
    Monte Carlo
    Grand Prix
    Regal
    Some Olds LSS

Realizing it's likely too late to help you on the motor search, hopefully if another looks at your thread later, it might help them.

On the SC and taking it apart to look at it. You can do this w/o a puller. Remove the 10mm bolts and the nose and rotor pack come out. Then if it's good, when you get a puller you can swap that pulley.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

I wasn't aware of this forum until after I bought this motor, had I pulled it from a Regal I probably would be somewhere else! I'm glad I'm here now though, you have all been very helpful and quick to respond.

I initially limited myself to just the Regal GS and GP GTP because they're the only W's with the L67, and I wanted everything all at once, already assembled, as cheaply as possible, ready to drop in. I just wanted it to run for now, and I'll mod/upgrade it later. It was suggested by so many people that I look specifically for a W-body donor that I ruled out assembling the parts from multiple cars. I also couldn't find anybody that could give me a complete list of what parts I needed if my donor was not a W. Though now that I have the majority of the W stuff I need, I can look anywhere for the rest.

Alright, thanks! I thought that might be the case, but I wasn't exactly sure how the rotors are attached to the snout, if it would come out of the housing with the pulley still on, etc... I'll do that, and get a pulley tool later when I need to change it.

What do you think about these heads though? The heads and SC are now the only two parts that I can't easily acquire locally and cheaply.

What about the Impala and Monte Carlos that came with the L67? Yessir..they did around 04.

You could smooth the sharp areas on the head where it got beat up. How do the valves look?

Everyone who's put a 3800 in a Cutlass suggested I only look for Regal or GP, I still don't know why.

Both valves in that cylinder are bent, all the others are good. $10/ea, I can replace those easily enough.

Here's the inside of the S/C. I cleaned it up a bit, this is the only area where the scratches go any further than scraping off the carbon buildup.

I will be looking around for heads and a SC, if I find any before my 30 day warranty runs out at a price I'm satisfied with, I will return these. Otherwise I think these may be alright just to get the motor installed and running, without any mods.

Shipping alone costs almost as much as buying one from my local yard.

If that picture is of the case I wouldn't worry too much. The carbon would actually fill in spots where there are tight gaps and help on moving air. If that is of a rotor you have issues, the rotors have a teflon coating on them to help seal against the case and if that is flaking off you would want to look at a replacement. Again, seen several cases pulled apart and both of mine have scratches in them, its going to happen. Unless you get a brand new one you are likely to have some scratches and carbon and discoloration in it.

And unless you are getting rid of the EGR and porting and polishing the TB and Supercharger and LIM I wouldn't worry about carbon buildup. You will just flood it with carbon when the EGR opens up and starts working.

It is indeed the walls of the housing. But after that I did a closer inspection of the rotors and there were some more significant scratches. I decided to return it to the JY along with the block. Now that I'm widening my search to include non-W's I'll have a better chance of easily finding replacements, maybe Gen5 even. So I peeled off the Teflon to see how bad the scratches really were. They're actually not as bad as they looked with the Teflon coating intact, but it's too late to re-coat them now! I've got everything I need off the block, as soon as I can find a truck it's all going back.

If you do some research you could look for a good L32 S3 supercharged from the 04+. Some minor changes and a tune would have you sitting with more power and the better charger straight out of the box.

If I knew what I know now I would have went that way when I had to replace my motor a couple years back.

From the sounds of things, I'd rather start with a Series II block, then add a Gen V supercharger later on.
