I have paint left over from my braces that i just painted, so im thinking about painting my dogbones also. How do you remove them, and are the bushings in them a PITA to get out?

I painted mine with spray paint but I blasted them first. I never took the bushings out. Before you paint them take a drop of oil and with your finger rub it on the rubber, that way when you paint and it drys, all you do is wipe it off. Paint wont stick to your bushings. I have a pic or 2 in my photo album of my painted dogbones.
As far as removing, if you do the dogbones and the mounts youll need a 13mm socket for the mounts, and a 15mm socket and wrench for the dog bones. Youll have to rock the motor foward to stick the bolts back into the dogbones.
Removing the bushings is easy.
Use one of the nuts and bolts that attach the dog bone to the car, and install it, and snug down the nut. Lift up one of the edges of the bushing and give it a few squirts of WD-40 and then with a 15mm socket/wrench turn the bolt a few times spinning the bushing inside the dog bone.
Get you a hammer, and brace the dog bone well, and then hit the head of the bolt with the hammer, and out it pops. Sometimes you can grab it and just twist and pull it on out, other times you might have to get a deep socket or a punch and tap it on out the rest of the way.
For me, I made a jig, and use my 12 ton arbor press. Makes removal and install easy as pie.
Just if your just going to paint these, then just mask off the bushing, no need to remove it. You only want to remove them if your replacing them, or powder coating or even chrome plating them.

There is also an easier way which i cant remember, it involves getting into gear and holding the break. [I cant remember for the life of me so would some one who knows comment cus my curiosity is killing me]
[edit] Found it! Unhook the dogbones, push the car froward [in park] and set the e brake.
rocking it forward is safe right? i wont damage anything and ill be able to get everything back in place the right way?
absolutely. rocking the motor forward is necceasry for changing the rear plugs/wires, installing headers or a downpipe. it entirely safe, and im only 5'9" and 140lbs and i can easily pull the motor forward and push it back to get the bolts lined up myself.
Just push the car forward and lock the e-brake.
I didnt think you would have to rock it to put a dp on? I didnt even think of it...just bolted it up and welded lol.
You don't 'have' to move the motor forward to install, or uninstall, anything. Of-course it makes it much easier but it's not a required thing.
Lol, by rock the motor forward he means grab the top of the engine and pull it to line the holes up. That's a lot different than what everybody is saying by rocking the car forward and hitting the parking brake. When you take the dogbones off the engine will shift a little and you have to line it up again. It's not hard.
