Picked up an 01 GTP Tuesday for dirt cheep it needed a little engine work. Hooked a scan gauge up to the car and it had a code for the egr flow being insificient, system to lean, a code for the rear o2 and a misfire on cylinder #2.
When I first got the car the egr system was leaking so bad that you could hear the lim sucking in air from the outside. So I removed the egr and blocked everything off with pennies and RTV got it all sealed up nice and good. I also replaced the front o2 sensor.
Fired the car up this morning took it for a quick spin and when you punch it it struggles to go, the little boost gauge on the dash doesnt even fill up half way checked my scanner and at most its pushing out about 2.4 psi of boost.
The only codes I have now are for the egr being deleted. No more misfires.
The car acts like it has a plugged up catalytic converter but the cat has been removed, kind of weird that it doesn't throw any codes from the rear o2 sensor though.
Car starts up nice on the first crank, cruises down the highway just fine, but as soon as you try to punch it it falls on its face.
Took my scanner out with me and forgot to save everything but timing advance at idle was 22* ~30* while cruising around 14-15* while accelerating with a blip to 8.5* and I even saw a blip down to -1*, I didn't know that was possible to have negative reading of timing advance. Car shows 0* of KR on the scanner. I don't know what my fuel trims are I'll go take it out for another spin and see what they are.
I am at a loss as to what could be the problem here, I guess I'll start by replacing the Boost bypass valve and double checking vac lines.
