    Hey guys,

I have an 00 GTP with 80k on it. Recently I noticed something in the motor whines when idling. It's not incredibly loud but its gotten pretty annoying. I tried pinpointing the noise and it looks like its coming from somewhere below the supercharger. Any idea what it is? The car has a CAI and a 3.4 pulley so I dont know if that makes a difference. No I do not have headers, and the car has ran fine. I did replaced the rack and pinion at 77k. It does not make the whining noise if I turn the wheel like a bad pump or rack would do.

Sure it runs "fine", buts its not good for the car to run that pulley with ZERO flow mods.

Check your trans fluid level while hot. Might be your issue.

being your at 80,000 miles and just got the car. now would be a good time to drop the pan and change the filter in the trans. your due.

clogged filter can also cause the trans to whine. can also cause hard shifts.

    Whining sources:
    Low power steering fluid
    stuck pulley
    Bad snout bearing
    Broads
Irridium spark plugs last 100k mi and work just as well as copper. Copper is a waste on N/A and only lasts 15k mi. Don't use Platinum.
Use 195* tstat unless you can thoroughly explain why not; 99.9% don't need a lower temp.
Almost any oil filter, ever, is of higher quality than ACDelco. Spend $6+.

take one belt off at a time to see if that goes away. you can narrow it down like that.

I appreciate it! Im going to check the trans fluid tomorrow as well as removing the belt from the supercharger. I hope its an easy and cheap fix. This sound is annoying.
