I blew my s/c motor back in May and since then have been quietly looking for another. Seen lots, and to be honest, unless Your willing to pay over 500 bucks for one, they are extremely high milage 300,000 km plus. and most are, well for a lack of a better work, just plain DIRTY, not looked after properly.

Anyways, saw and ad come up with an engine from a '97 bonneville, with a supercharger on it, so to me this is swapable, and my quiestion to the smart motor people...

Is the 3.8 s/c engine from a 97 Bonneville interchangeable to a 98 GTP Grand Prix.

Thank You for reading this, and maybe answering my question.

im pretty sure you will need to swap the front engine mounts off your old engine, and the lower motor mount bracket, and the coil packs and bracket, the alt, alt bracket, and re use your sc and TB and your fuel rails. maybe even the swap injectors due to wires not matching up.

double check the sensor plug ends, swap if needed.

im going off nothing but what ive read here, so this list may be a bit off. never done the swap myself.

i do know it can be done tho.

while the new to you engine is out still, its worth it to do the lim gaskets, the valve cover gaskets, and the oil pan gasket. i know gaskets cost money but they are worth doing while its out. oil pan gasket is not a easy job when its in the car. why take that chance of it leaking after its put in your car.

also take a good look at the rear main seal, make sure its dry back there behind the flex plate. if its wet change that seal too.

98 Buick Regal GS, F body brakes, Caddy STS wheels, tinted tails L36 bottom end, lightly ported heads, 1.95 roller rockers, headers, gen 5 N* 3.0 pulley, FSIC, 42 lb injectors, a BrandonHall rebuilt trans, DHP tuned and AEM water/Meth injection https://goo.gl/gpV5kW
