Hey guys I'm new here and I gotta say this site is pretty nice. I need some help though. My 07 gt is bone stock and ocasionally when I start the car I get a big cloud of smoke out of the exhaust. I haven't noticed coolant loss or the oil level dropping or rising. When the car is warm, the radiator hoses are pretty hard. Is this normal or do I have some hidden problem because Im lost? I hope the car is ok.

if this after it sits over night, or a few hours of sitting, the longer the off time the more smoke there is.

most of the time you need new valve seals. oil leaks into the cylinders when sitting, you start it up, the oil burns off. aka smoke out the tail pipe.

    how many miles?

It has 104000, and the longer the car sits the more the smoke.

    i vote seals.

on a bright side, if you need new seals that would be a good time to put some rockers and springs in.

but wait for others to chime in, before you freak out lol

they may have a better idea what it could be.

    Sounds like bad valve seals.

I agree with scotty..Would be a good time to throw in some roller rockers and springs, since you'll have all that jazz apart.

Hit and miss. Out of the 4 I've had, never had an issue. Though a friend of mine's GT did exactly what you're describing. Pulled the heads, replaced the seals and had some minor port work done to them, and all was well.

but in reality, you can let this go. its not the end of the world if you dont fix this. its just a puff of smoke and its over with.

being you have a 07, you should have the metal gaskets installed from the factory.

^ this. Though they are still pretty simple to replace..just a bunch of pulling parts off.

As long as you check your oil regularly, and don't see much loss between changes, then you'll be fine.

If you've done the intakes on the 3.1 and 3.4, this is a walk in the park. Well, if you have a compressor and spring compressor.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
