This morning on my way to work, passed somebody on the highway, doing 67, boost meter went to 100% (was not getting on it that much!) and it made a grinding noise, check engine light began flashing and car was running really rough. In idle, engine or something around it is making a lot of rattling and or knocking noise. Oil level is good, plenty of gas. Help! Any ideas/suggestions? It is a 1999 with 85k on it.

Well, i will post a vid in a little bit, I am currently at work, and having it towed home tonight, since I don't wanna mess anything else up. I have had problems with it burning oil since I bought it, but I just keep checking the oil and making sure the level stays decent and it has been alright just doing that. The other night somebody said that it sounded like the bearings in the sc were getting bad, so I was kind of hoping that was the problem today, as I do not know where to get a decently priced engine..any suggestions on that?

I had a tune up when I bought it in April, is it possible for them to go bad that quickly? I will take them off and see what there is to see : )

I do not have a scanner with me at the moment, but the flashing SES made me nervous, which is why I am having it towed to try and not to any MORE damage (if that is possible)

Flashing ses means possible catalyst damaging condition. usually misfire or bad cylinder etc.

Give Cam a second..he'll post the usuals.

    flashing, means misfires.

So you have either a coil/wire or spark plug issue.

Hopefully you are using ac delco plugs.

maybe u did bust something in the supercharger when it boosted..i hear u can take the belt off the s/c and still run the car. try that and if theres no noises/rattles then something broke in the s/c

Nothing in the charger broke. Likely .. he's talking piston etc.

What octane of fuel are you using?

I am trying to upload a video so you can hear the noise that it is making. Does not sound like a rod or anything, at least not one I have heard before. It is making a lot of noise though and the engine is moving with the noise, almost like it would if it ran out of gas, but I just filled it yesterday, that is not the issue
