I have a 97 GP GT that I pulled the engine and transmission to swap in an 03 L67 engine. The L67 came from an 03 Grand Prix GTP with transmission, wire harness and computer. Now that I have both sitting next to each other I see there are differences in the wire harnesses. The difference i see is the two plugs on the shock tower that feeds prower to the abs cruise control and I'm guessing gauges. Can I or should I use the 03 harness? I could go get that part of the harness and I already have the special edition gauges out of the 03. Thanks in advance for your help. Chris

You should have also noticed the plug for the computer is different as well.

Yes and there are other differences. The one I thought maybe a problem is the one going back into the interior on the drivers side. I think it goes to the body control module, abs, cruise control.

Engine harness shouldn't include those ... you sure it's part of the engine harness (only part you'll be changing.

Okay, I looked at the plugs on engine harness for 97 engine. I removed the wrap from the engine harness at the two plugs that I have a question about and traced the wires. The one plug has one yellow and one red pretty heavy gauge wires, the red goes to the starter and the yellow goes to the transmission. The other pulg has about 7 small thin wires with two going to the transmission and the rest head in the direction of the connector to the back of the fuse box. On the 03 harness the plug with the heavy gauge wires is a different connector and has 3 wires in it. I'll try to load pictures tonight.

can't view the pics from my location (work). Those wires though are the difference in internal vs external range switch and how the starter soleniod is handled.

Being an 03, there may be an issue using that trans/wiring. I know the Bonnie's in 03 had a seperate TCM (trans control module) that no other year would have. Not sure if the GP did as well.

Also trying to do a swap and was wondering if all I would need to change is the engine harness or is there adapters? I have a 2002 40th gt and was wondering if all I would need is a wiring harness from a gtp 2001 will work and just the engine one idk if I need anything else?

I've come to realize that the 97 GP is a one year only for engine and body harness and i'm going to change the body/dash harness to work with the engine and transmission from the 2003. The ABS on the 97 is one year only also so I'll change that also. I've found a dash harnesses at the local u pull it for $25 but it's an 02 GT. Does anyone have any information on capability with dash harnesses? If its as simple as adding a wire or depin or move a pin I can do that. I believe the easy route would be to buy an 03 GTP harness. (i'm looking for one) This Project is just about building a car and having fun and can I make it work. I already have a GTP so I know it's easy to buy one and drive it.
