Hey guys I got a 99gtp, More than often now at idle it knocks causing the whole supercharger to jump up . Could a worn out coupler do that? If i go over 1k rpm it never "knocks/jumps" At first I thought it might of been the tensioner as it would move when the sc jumped but the tensioner is not loose at all and i dont think a worn out coupler could make the whole thing knock and jump. The engine does not do it with the belt off the supercharger so i know its the problem, anyone know what could it be?

What do you mean the supercharger jumps up? Like just the pulley or the whole snout?

whole snout, ill get a video going soon. The odd thing is that it does not happen all the time, sometimes ill be at a red light and its smooth as new but other times it just knocks till i hit the gas. It makes my rpm jump at idle too a bit, the car is all stock.

Here is a link to the video ImageShack® - Online Photo and Video Hosting

You can hear it pretty good, everytime it knocks like that my rpm goes 100-200 down and back up. The sound seems to be coming from the middle or lil bit towards the pulley. Could my bearings be going in the supercharger? I have changed the supercharger oil 3 months ago, this didint just happen over night. Slowly started to build up to the point its at right now, when i give it gas the sound/knock goes away, no performance loss. also everytime it knocks/jumps a little(hard to see) my tensioner moves with it.

that sounds like your coupler is blown, you should take the belt of the sc, then grab the sc pulley and turn it back and fourth, like snap it it should feel tight, if you feel slop in it, your coupler is dead.

The pulley turns both ways but there is 2 clicks when I rotate it? I guess the coupler flips? Should I drive it without the sc belt till i get it fixed?

    There is no snout gasket.

You have to buy Anerobic sealer. Comes in a small tube, put a thin bead around the snout and then bolt it back together.

no gasket, clean both sides up real good, clean the inside of the snout real good to and the gears, spray it all down with brake cleaner.

i used high heat black rtv, and i cant spell the name of the sealant your supposed to use. mines holding tight for 2 years now.

and you put the thinnest smear of rtv on the snout, you dont want it oozing all over when you bolt it back on.

use GM sc oil, from the dealer, get a zzp green coupler, or the whole kit they sell. or one off ebay. get a green one. black is stock and is weaker.

Where do you live I'm sure someone close could help you out swapping it out.
