Hi I am a new owner of a 2001 GTP as of yesterday. Tonight I went out and the DIC flickered and went out, abs, and air bag lights came on, door locks kept trying to lock/unlock, traction control turned itself off, radio turned off and on, head lights flashed off and on, and power windows/moon roof wouldn't work. As soon as I take my foot of the gas and touch the brake, everything goes back to normal, but as soon as I get off the brake it all goes to **** again. I tried it when I was stopped, foot on the brake in gear, everything works. Foot still on the brake in gear and just slightly touch the gas, everything is gone again. Please tell me someone has had this issue before, and can at least give me an idea of where to start looking for a bad ground??? Thanks

I had someone sit in the car while I started wiggling wires under the hood to see if there was a bad connection somewhere. I grabbed the harness of wires that are pulgged in under the coil packs and gave them a wiggle. They told me that as I was wiggling it everything was going on and off. I unplugged it, took all the loom off and checked for any broken/chaffed wires. I did find one wire that had some insulation off of it, and it looked as though someone had already electrical taped it up. I retaped it after finding now other problems with it and plugged it all back in. Now it is still doing the same things but wiggling that harness dosen't seem to have any effect? What is that harness plugged into? Is it some sort of module? Could this possibly be something????

Could the BCM be causing all of the problems? I thought the BCM was more related to the power door locks and such?

It could be the BCM. If everything was flickering power I would check grounds, alternator wiring, etc.

I also noticed that when things start to act up, it sometimes seems to shift funny? Sorry just trying to give you guys as much detail as possible.

That harness is for the ICM or ignition control module. It really shouldn't effect most of the stuff you said, unless that was a power wire that was shorting out a little.

I'd think BCM or maybe an ignition switch.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Is there anyway to test the BCM? Or igntion switch? There other thing that I have noticed, is that with the car off and the key forward to on, everything is fine. It's only when I start the car that everything starts acting up. It almost seems that its the vibration of the engine running, and when the motor moves a little from torquing up that is causing it??? I noticed at lunch today backing into a parking spot, when I stopped with the car in reverse and not moving, foot on brake everything was starting to be fine again. While driving sometimes the ABS light and TCS OFF light while go off and on together. I assume this must have some relation to a vehicle speed sensor or ABS sensor. Is there a harness somewhere that ties those and all of the other things together>?

Sounds like there was a remote starter or after-market alarm on the car at one time and the person who took it out did a bad hack-job with the wiring.

You can test the BCM with a multimeter and see if the proper voltage and resistance is coming from it. With anything electrical, start with testing the simple stuff. Are the fuses and relays good? Check your ground wire connections. How are the wires going to the fuse box? How are the coil packs? How are the wires going to the PCM?

The PCM is what controls your transmission shift points. So, looks like a bad connection somewhere.

Ok thanks guys, here is where I am now. The night that this had all happened I had washed the car in the driveway earlier in the evening. It was after that when all of this started happening. Yesterday afternoon, the car sat in the sun all day at work, and when I left it all happened for a min or two, then came out of it and worked fine. I went out again last night and it worked fine. Brought the car to work and put it up on the hoist and tried wiggling wires all underneath, then all wires under the hood, and couldn't make it do it again. Now this morning its a little damp from some rain last night, and the DIC and three button lights are flickering a bit. Seemed to help when I turned the fan on. Must be something getting wet??? Any ideas?
