I got my first GP the other day for 300 it cam with a L67 and HD trans out of a Regal i have the ecu harness and all but now for my questions. Did i get a good deal.
They guy did not know that the motor he bought threw a rod. so since the N/A is more common to find in a junk yard. i figured that i would use the top swap route. are the front covers the same between th N/A and S/C ?
I am thinking of doing a mild build in the process.
i have a used E3 plus in the trucks that i loved. will they work in this motor. Planning on running MSD wires. A 160 degree tstat. i want to run a VS cam also was looking at the conversion harness that they sell as well. was planning on having ZZP tuning the computer as well. was going to replace the worn coupler with the zzp one. and at this point should be looking for headers. i was looking for a cheap solution for that. would like to pro the pulley size at this point but not sure how far to drop it. was thinking of running a cone off the end or the TB. should i be looking to underdrive the water pump and the alt. im looking for a fun car that is reliable as it will be the wifes car and she wants a fast car. did i over look anything?
\also i have read that they should be nothing shinny with rotors mine are a little shinny at the very edge of the rotors is that ok?
which head gaskets should i run im leaning towards the MLS at .051 think as well i was gonna run ARP head stud kit but i was tempted to run the cheap gaskets but over time i would like to do a Gen 5 Intercooled in time

    No e3's, garbage plugs

Run Autolite 104's, with that setup.

    SSAC headers

    VS cam with L76 springs.

    180 thermo, no 160 ever.

You dont need to under drive anything.

Invest in a Wideband o2 sensor.

And a ZZP canned tune is not what you want if you are going cammed, you will want a custom tune, hence why I said wideband.

    3.8 to start.

    Then go 3.6

Because you are running a High compression block.

    Leave the stocker on.

But run headers or plog/DP and go from there.

With a car this old now, if installing a cam you're going to want/need the following:

    the cam
    New timing chain
    new timing chain dampner
    L76 valve springs
    LSx valve spring retainers
    Valve cover gaskets and grommets
    timing cover gasket
    aluminum LIM gasket

And possibly new OE/LS7 lifters and possibly pushrods.

Your transmission will quickly wear with the extra power and will need replacing or repair within a short few years if you use the power, which i expect is the purpose of being able to make it.
