At cold startup idle my car is experiencing pretty loud lifter tick. When it first started I could hear it sometimes at hot idle, but I do not hear it at hot idle anymore as far as I can tell. I always let my car sit for a few minutes in the morning before I start driving. Its loud enough that I can hear it from where I park my car to the front door of the house (50ft give or take). Based on internet research some people switch to different weighted oil to combat the tick and some people get their lifters replaced, then theres the people who say it won't do any harm and let it be. I checked my oil level at its fine.

I'm pretty sure I started hearing the tick shortly after I switched to Amsoil, interesting enough.

Should I take my car in to get looked at? switch oils?

I would like to get this figured out before I put these mods on my car. Thanks.

Thin oil will make lifters tick. Just turn the radio up. LOL

lol. should I try a different weight of amsoil? what weight? I just feel that with that lifter ticking its speeding up some kind of wear and tear in the engine.

What weight are you using now? GM recommends 10w-30, but I've ran 5w-30 before.
