I'm working on my co-workers 2000 GTP, and his stock supercharger is trashed.
Rather than getting a stock reman unit for $800, I found one for $699 that was ported from 3800 performance.

Does anyone have any experience with them?
I checked on the BBB and they have an F rating, with 3 complaints, 2 within this year.
He's got decent pricing and good packages, but somewhat fearful to buy with no contact information listed other than E-mail.
Before I drop a grand or more...Id like to get some other folks thoughs on sources.

    Any info is appreciated

**Edit for Clarification - this isn't a Poo Poo on any vendor in particular, but more smart shopping**

how is it trashed, what is wrong with it? Whats it doing?

I would go to a junkyard and find one or look in the for sale section, used blowers run around 100-175.

But tell me whats wrong with the original, because it might not be over for it.

It started rattling pretty bad. The pulley doesnt have much slop. Blower only had about 4oz of fluid which poured out silvery black with shavings.
Rotors looked ok, but it sounds really loose almost like a rod knock. Take the belt off, and the rattle goes away.

We would be more comfortable with a rebuilt unit with updates if possible just to make sure nothing else goes wrong.

Hmm, maybe the 2 gears are ****ed and the bearings went bad.

I would scan the for sale section or put up a wanted to buy add and I'm sure you will be able to find one for under 200 bones, sounds alot better than 600-800 to me.

He wants to go with a bit more performance while we're in there doing the job. Thats why I'd like to find him a ported blower and other quick bolt on goodies.

Buy a used blower and port it yourself. Dont buy a ported blower from a vendor and waste 500 extra bucks when the mod you can do is free. The ported blower just increase's its ability to flow more air, but depending on his mod level it may not even need that extra little bit.

It'll make it sound a little different tho, so id buy one and port it yourself.
