Well ive noticed my supercharger is making a grinding noise. Its faint.. But its still there. I checked the oil.. Its slightly low, so I am going to buy some and hopefully that fixes it. However, does anyone else have any suggestions of what might be the problem? && When i took the filler plug off.. I decided to smell it.. And I couldnt stop gagging for a couple minutes it smelled soo bad. Is it suppose to be like that? Should I change the oil all together? The car has just over 132k miles. Replys would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Yes gear oil does have a strong smell, its not too bad.

You sure its the supercharger tho, have you taken the belt off to just be sure? Also when the belt is off, spin the supercharger by hand to feel for play.

What should I do? Have it rebuilt? Buy a new/used one?

run it till the bearings are screaming there heads off, no point in doing anything now if it still works right.

Which supercharger do you have, or please tell us the year of your car.

Based on that, I'd send you to RollingPerformance.com for the bearings, coupler and oil.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

a good mechanic will be able to tell right where the noise is coming from and will probably diagnose it free.

take off belt if noise goes away then it is the supercharger. dont run it till it screams because the main cause is a plastic coupler that often goes to prevent further damage. if u just ignore it the noise is embarassing but also the chattering between metal peices can cause damage to fins in supercharger. main thing is u dont want any possibility of metal getting in your engine. if its s charger swap it for a trusted full rebuilt one for about 400 well worth it unless u have evrything to take nose apart and are sure u know what your doin. just speaking from expierience i had to run for atleast 6 months with no belt on supercharger which sucked btw but it was safe.
