I replaced my valve cover gaskets when I did my lim gaskets three months ago. I noticed that I have oil on my front exhaust manifold from a leaky valve cover gasket. I got the gaskets from zzp for 20.00 and also replaced the bolt grommets. I plan on replacing the gaskets again since there leaking but am wondering if I should go with a different gasket maker, I'm thinking of picking up the felpro kit for 50.00 from advance auto but am wondering if it's the same thing is get from zzp. Anybody else have a problem with the zzp valve cover gaskets?

    I did.

Bought felpro's and they've been fine ever since.

I'll second the Fel-Pro's. I installed their gaskets and grommets on my GT when I replaced the motor and its been dry ever since.

I guess I'll be putting the Felpros on this weekend. I guess you really do get what you pay for.

ZZP made gaskets for their aluminum valve covers and they fit those covers perfectly. In the stock covers.. here's what you get

I thought they fit kind of crappy around the corners but I figured they would seal when torqued down. I can't see if my rear cover is leaking but I'm assuming if the front one is the back is probably leaking as well.

Ok so I changed out the zzp gaskets for some felpro gaskets and sprayed the exhaust manifold with a degreaser to get the oil off the exhaust. I looked at it today after driving it quite a bit and noticed the manifold looked wet again. Is it possible it's still leaking even after changing the gasket? Is there somewhere else this oil could be coming from like exhaust gasket? I attached pictures to show where's it's coming from. It's not a lot of oil but it's enough to drive me crazy.

Try driving it for a week or so and see if the spot gets worse. Its hard to tell from those pictures, but that doesnt really look like its soaked in fresh oil. So might be residual seeping out of the cast iron maybe? Give it a week or so and check on it again.

Don't ever buy those cheapo black valvecover gaskrts from zzp. I found out the hard way that they always fail. Now I buy felpro.
